Someone who's job isn't to necessarily do damage, but take the focus off the tank for a bit to kill *you*.
Now, I don't play Venture much because of that reason. Mental damage doesn't exactly get shown on the scoreboard. If I wanted to bully the enemy team, I'd probably go Tracer and wreck havok.
But I like Venture as not a DPS, per say, more like a supportive class to help take the pressure off the tank and other DPS.
I may be wrong in this assessment of Venture's character, but hey it's how I like to play Venture... if I even try to play Venture, that is.
Fun fact: In Star Wars Episode 6 the directors wanted to replace Admiral Ackbar on the grounds that he was "too ugly" but George Lucas wanted to keep him in because not all heroes look charming, or something along those lines.
So, you know...
I think they got unnecessarily nerfed the second time around. Sadly I dont remember about the first nerfs anymore and cant really speak about them but at the end of the day it was alot of people just being mad that Venture had a "oneshot" in their combo and calling them op because of it. At least thats how I percieved it.
I dont think Venture was ever op but alot of people cried so they got changed and made weaker sadly.
Now I dont think they are weak or anything but Venture is definitely very limited in what they can do due to being close range only and easily poked out. Its honest to god just a playstyle alot of people are bad at.
I find it interessting though that you specifically like the ult. Even on release I did percieve it as pretty weak overall and I didnt change my mind on it yet. Allthough that was point of discussion back then as well, some people apparently though the ult was crazy op
Like, you can drill, hit,hit and finish off with a melee and you good to go
ps. It's funny people bitc**n about their oneshot combo being removed when OW has always done that all the time throughout their development history. Blizzard didn't need to wait for players' complaints for them to remove it.
