Is elo hell real? or am I just trash in ow2
Support main (mercy/moira). I was gold 1 before, but then kept losing and losing, I'm now silver 5 :(
Sometimes I played bad (I admit), but most of the time I healed and killed the most.
I don't know what happened to my rank :'(

I'm bad as well, I started last year, and been at Silver 1 for over 200 games in Support. But I'm starting to realise that team comps make all the difference, Mercy is especially reliant on good teammates to get the most benefit out of using her for example. If your dps and your tank isn't doing enough you'll have to switch to a higher dps impact hero.

Moira gets loads of damage and healing on the scoreboard, but that doesn't necessarily translate to impact in the game itself. Countless times I've won a team fight by being able to get kills or big damage as bap or kiri (as well as saving teammates) that allowed my teammates to finish them off, OW2 is a team game so if there's no teamplay in your team it's basically gg.

Besides just enjoy the game who cares what rank you are :D I play for comp points instead of rank now, but if you want to rank up in solo, it helps to switch between heroes that fit your team composition.

The ladder in this game is a joke that shouldn't be taken seriously.

In March, I started my journey with ranked matches in Overwatch, beginning from Gold 4, and I currently hold Diamond 4. Based on my experience, Gold is terrifying in terms of how inconsistent the player skill levels are. For example, some players are good at aiming but have poor cooldown management, bad positioning, poor macro play, or they play a very limited hero pool that can be highly ineffective in many compositions or are simply not meta. I generally recommend positioning yourself as safely as possible while still providing good healing value. Try to be available to multiple players near you so that everyone can benefit from your healing. It’s not worth chasing DPS players who have a hero syndrome and rush ahead as if they were doing constant 1 vs 5 while having very low mechanical skills. If your teammates have trouble executing enemies, it’s good to diagnose why. It might be due to insufficient support, as heroes like Moira and Mercy are weak against explosive damage and, despite providing good healing values, might fail in crucial moments when enemies have tools for quickly exterminating your teammates.

In such cases, it’s good to switch to Baptiste, Kiriko, or Ana due to their excellent survival abilities that can win games and finish off enemies effectively. Baptiste is great at predicting incoming shots, like from Widowmaker, with his immortality field, and he can provide preemptive healing to allies and deter enemies with his matrix. Kiriko can pull allies out of the worst situations while giving them significant opportunities with her ultimate, which quickly refreshes part of their kit. Ana, when paired with another well-chosen support, can sustain allies with her biotic grenade, and she is a walking artillery with her sleep dart, self-healing on the grenade, anti-heal that can quickly eliminate any threat, and her nano-boost that can forgive mistakes made by allies or help them realize their potential.

Brigitte, Zenyatta, and Illari (if you place the pylon in spots where people often roam) are great answers to DPS players who constantly move out of line of sight. I particularly recommend Brigitte because she can fend off threats from herself and allies, has decent mobility that helps in reaching healing range, acts like a mini-tank when the main tank fails to create space for their team, can cancel ultimates with her own ultimate, and has a lot of self-healing similar to Moira and Mercy during their ultimates. Zenyatta, on the other hand, is good against opponents who like to dominate, such as Roadhog, Mauga, Moira, or Symmetra, but requires quick switching of harmony and discord orbs on targets. I love his ultimate because it makes allies feel very confident around him. Illari is good when hitscan players are failing, and there’s a Pharmercy duo above your heads. She’s great when there’s a problem keeping up with the game’s pace, and the pylon can significantly help in such moments. Just be careful to place it so the enemy can’t destroy it easily, as losing it quickly diminishes the significance of your healing beam.

It’s hard for me to recommend Lucio because it’s difficult to get value from him since he requires not only good map awareness but also the ability to harass the enemy effectively without risking your life, much like Moira. I don't recommend Lifeweaver because his kit is too complicated to make a difference. The problem with Moira is that she can deal a lot of damage and then heal a lot, but the question is how significant those eliminations are. Every elimination should push the team toward a climax and bring them closer to the objective. If a kill doesn’t make a difference on the map, it means the opponents haven’t been effectively denied their opportunity to perform. Enemies need to be prioritized in terms of elimination so that the most important ones are taken off the board. This causes the opposing team to break down internally, making it difficult for them to regroup.

Mercy is a specific character for climbing the ranked ladder and can be a walking annoyance. I believe her pick is quite situational and depends on the heroes chosen by your allies and their capabilities.

I translated the text due to my lack of skills to write in English (I can only understand from reading and listening) ;)

And remember that any damage dealt can be countered with equally good healing, so having high damage on Moira can be misleading. Similarly, as a support, you might have low healing values not because you’re not performing well, but simply because there’s nothing to heal, as your allies are good at taking cover or moving well enough to take little damage from enemies. Low healing values can be compensated by facilitating enemy eliminations with abilities like Discord Orb or Sleeping Dart, or by dealing damage accurately enough to force the enemies into a passive stance.
You made it to gold? I've been playing for 4 years and no matter how well I play I can't get out of bronze. I thought the new ranking system would fix it but my teammates are constantly dragging me down

It's most definitely not you being bad. The ranked system of OW2 is simply and plain terrible. It tells you literally nothing about how good or bad you are but entirely if you win or lose. Have a leaver and therefore no chance against the enemy team? well, YOU lose rank for that. No matter how good you are, you're stuck because of this bad system.
That's also why it often happens that you see someone being almost like overpoweredly good because they're also stuck in this system while they actually belong in a way higher rank..

change your hero pool up. those are 2 situational healers. mercy has been a throw pick for like months.

you are WAY too limited in your hero pool. especially as a healer.

add ana, kiriko, and illari, even bap and lucio to your pool.

guarantee you will climb.

playing only two (bad) healers isn't going to help you.

being a healbot (mercy) and most kills (moira) just shows you that you are playing the game wrong.

its more likely you've developed some bad habits from playing that long in that rank. Experience-wise, you're probably too good for your rank but the bad habits keep you there. Focus on forming better habits and you'll slowly climb out. I sometimes find myself in that situation as well but mostly in quick play where the skill range is huge. Mostly you get paired with lower skilled players and the habits you develop there kind of stick because its easier there. You become more reckless and forget that you can't do these things in higher elo because there, you get punished for it. Meanwhile, in lower elo, you don't and so you tend to keep doing those things because you're indirectly getting rewarded for it but then suddenly you're in a higher elo game and you're losing, dying too often and wondering why until you realise that you're in a higher elo match and have to revert back to that kind of gameplay.

There are 5 players on each team. If you are not smurfing that means there are 4 slots that could potentially have smurf on your team, and 5 slots on your enemy team. Logically you should expect to derank forever!

Your mistake is playing moria.

Mercy need actual dps who can aim.

So in bottom go sawp to scary support like Kiri, zen and Ana.

Thanks for all the replies :') I'm going to practice bap/kiriko now
FYI, down below were some of my replays, I know I have a lot of flaws, hopefully I can level up to gold again :(

Better play:
QJ1V30
E9T0TK

Bad play:
337KKH (We couldn't even walk out of the door LOL)
SM5JSY (I tried using ana, but my aim sucks LOL, i think baptist will suit me more)

So you want rank up with not using a hard hero? Idk why you want rank up with that thinking when the game is based about moba thing when you might need use Ana because other team has moga or hog.

You have workshop and you can play qp before rank, gl enjoying long q time once you get more rank tho.

The easiest way to rank is by manipulating ELO with a large group. It's not hardstuck perse. it just punishes solo players the most heavily w/ bad matches.

Youre going to have to learn to carry on some capacity to rank up consistently. Which goes above stats. You have to secure the win with steady game-play and strategy execution.

Saturday is the worst day to play and Sunday a little less bad behind it. Don't be afraid to change heroes during a match even if you're building ult. Once I had a match as Lucio and decided to ult right outside the safe room because we needed a brigitte and our spawn was being harassed anyway. Try to get as much value every second of the match and you should see progress. It can be helpful to play a numbers game and look every so often at the score board. If the team is not outmatching the opponents in damage, pick a zen or something you output damage the most. And so on.

there is no such thing as "elo hell" in any game - everyone has their limit
