Does Sombra really need a hack?

Back when she first rolled in, hack felt pretty long, but now it's like 0.65 sec. It feels like it doesn't effect the target long enough, but of course making it any longer would make it hell to deal with.

They tried synergizing it with that new virus ability, but now it plays more like a mandatory step in the Hack -> Virus -> Shoot pipeline. She has a mass hack as her ultimate already, so maybe Sombra needs to go down the Symmetra route and just get some new abilities until the community meshes with one that sticks?

You don't need to hack before virus. Just Virus > shoot.

Sorry, it's just what I see 90% of the time. Maybe they do it out of habit.

depends on your target, your smg first shots are accurate. so HS may better somtimes

I always hacked -> virus -> shoot because I thought the virus did more damage against hacked targets. Is that not true?

yes its more dmg but its slow and they can kill you while you are doing these combo like meccre and widdow since they can tap on your head and melee.


also your virus can be cleaned with any heal/escape

When I first started playing Sombra I haven't used really hack because I thought it happens on click and not on hold, when I discovered I have to hold, I saw not much of a difference but it's nice that I can additionally block someone's skills, so if someone is dependent on them it's fun to turn them off.

It’s enough at times if a hero has an ability they might immediately use.

yes its more dmg but its slow and they can kill you while you are doing these combo like meccre and widdow since they can tap on your head and melee.

Being melee range to cass is scary because of nade and fan, but you can do it to widow if she doesn't have grapple and she will have a harder time aiming at you but she can still one tap you so you want to be quick

Yeah, sometimes you just come out of stealth and shoot to make the enemy use their defensive CDs like fade or lamp. The less CDs you use to do this the better the trade is. If someone is without defensive cds you can go for the full combo.

I also feel like hack is more of an ability interrupt than an ability block. It’s best used to cancel enemy abilities and ults, like genii deflect or Reinhardt charge, than stop them from using it in the first place.

Yeah, but the block only lasts for around a second, so it’s not super useful.

theyre talking about how it should be used, not how it can be used (and theyre right, good sombras wont hack an ana, for example)

they cant use there skills and the virus will work faster then but the downside is when you hack you uncloak first

I miss when hack actually disabled abilities for more than a second

And I say this as somebody who almost never plays Sombra

it's great against doomfist, pharah and other heroes where shutting down their abliities makes them super vulnerable
