I'm a Silver player on all my classes, if you ask me I should probably be mid gold, (I play in a stack). But it's near impossible to get out of silver, it seems to be a small portion of people who should be diamond that get stuck in silver and they just bounce off each other and keep each other in low ranks. It is super common in silver to see the enemy team have diamond challenger titles and in rarer cases the grand master title, what these players are doing in silver I don't know but it is hard screwing me and my team, the fact we have not dropped to bronze with these players and win games on rare occasions tells me we should be in a higher rank if we're going toe to toe with these stacks.
(I play in Oceania servers) It might just be our servers, since whenever I watch videos of overwatch ranked online (especially in US servers) the players look terrible, their gold lobbies look like our bronze lobbies.

You sound like a stereotypical "casual" who's been gaslit by the matchmaking system holding your hand...

Only 2 ways to climb.. get good, or rely on manipulating and exploiting the matchmaking system to your advantage...

Last season I spent 48 Hours grinding my rank. got placed in silver and only went up two divisions. I always outplayed enemy dps, Got called a smurf every game, constantly lost matches due to throwers and afkers.

gave up, made a new account, placed diamond.

ranking system is designed to waste as much of you time as possible to bloat game-play time and player numbers. The playerbase throwing and deranking does not help with this. If you have gotten better at the game its better to just make a new account, it will take less time to get to the rank you deserve. Everyone who understands the ranking system will agree.

But honestly the best decision you can make with this game is to just stop playing it, It doesn't respect your user experience or your time, they just want you to buy content.

I am shocked that people still take rank seriously. OWL is gone. The "pro" owl gamer that crawled on his knees like winston doesn't play this anymore.

No one cares what rank you are in. The game is a JOKE. If U want to be competitive- go play a real sport. No such thing as an "e sport".

the same story i had gold 1-2 on every role and didn't actually struggling when playing with higher ranks, but once i got lose streak on support i became silver and couldn't come back, so after win streak there is always a lose streak and during it every game seems just impossible to win, like enemy team has Zarya we have Dva and dude is just doing nothing, but doesn't repick, or we have 3 1 16 dps with 4.5k damage in 15 minutes like WTF? Where tf do all this people come from? I mean every time. Whoever says just get good and things like that it's just bullsh*t you're gonna lose even if you played good or even great it's not enough especially on support

Imo what we really need is a system that can determine how much rank progress you get/lose depends not only on what we have now but also on your stats because when people are looking for fun in comp they should be punished MUCH more if they played bad

Yea the new rank system reset is messed up used to be solid gold - diamond last patch
This patch from the start I get match in silver games instead of gold games which was already alarming and only silver games forwards
I can't even win games when entire team have 10-20% accuracy, can't focus right enemy targets like healers to kill first very simple things somehow the enemy team always have the previous grandmaster and diamond rank with new teammates on my team there's so much a single player can do to win
I'd suggest to wait for the rank to naturalise itself after the system reset since many previous higher ranked players are on lower ranked due to rank reset

You're going to be mad when you realize the developer made this game for fun in competitive mode which wouldn't be bad if it was done properly and the current system reset is just bad who in the world think yea lets reset the grandmaster and challenger players to all que from silver for 5 games that's psychopathic or incompetent

It is also possible silver is your max. Maybe it is not maybe just above is and that is why you struggle, maybe you are a gold player and on the cusp? I mean I play very well all the time better than my team for sure but I still lose. It is because I think I am not doing something else (outside of kills and assists) and this is costing us position or lives...hard to say without a coach to guide us.

I've played against gold players and even plats and done well. My stack are all ex diamond players from when the game first released. I'm probably the worst of them. (edit) when I say i've don't well I mean about on par with them.

You have to be a high diamond or masters skill level player to raw skill the games you're designed to lose. That's the only way to climb and even then you have to do it on characters that can actually carry games. Like you won't be able to solo climb as a Mercy no matter how good you are if your account was designated to be Silver after 30 games or so.

The matchmaking algorithm pretty much uses the first set of your win loss data and puts a predictive MMR on you and unless you are consistently breaking it it will set you up to lose certain games and win certain games regardless.

In a way this system does do what its suppose to because the only way out of the rank is just to be better. But I think what people don't like is just how much better you have to be to get out of a rank. Like you for instance may be a Gold skill level player but because you got unlucky in a bunch of games or whatever you will be hard stuck to Silver. If you made a new account you may end up in Gold or if you're luck even higher rank like Plat.

But for the account you're on now in order to get to Gold you can't be Gold skill level anymore you have to be at least Plat or Diamond and then when you hit Gold you need to be a Diamond or Masters skill level to get out of Plat. Basically you have to brute force the skill gap between you and the enemy team.

What does means is you have to be an obvious carry, win duels you aren't meant to win like Genji dives you and you're an Ana and you win that duel anyway and consistently. Things like that will get you out of the rank. Never die and have the most kills on your team by just being better but not by a little but by a lot.

It's either that or make a new account and roll again on your games cuz literally the first handful of games and how they go is kinda just luck cuz the MMR has no idea where you stand and if you happen to get a bunch of wins in games when its estimating your skill level then hey now you're a Diamond player lol.

Its basically a git gud thing but don't expect the Ranked system to put you always where you technically belong, it'll sometimes be lower or higher than you actually are.

you....dont think OP is simply not good enough? you dont think its at the very least, a possibility? then how do other people rank up from silver to gold and OP cant?

like as long as you play ranked, you are guaranteed you rank up and if you do not rank up, it is because of matchmaking and not because of mistakes you may be doing?

Did you not read my post? I've said my issue? Is it a skill issue that people about 3 brackets higher than me are being put in my game? And from the sound of it and what research I've done this games ranked system is less than worthless. I play Rainbow 6 which is known for bad ranked match making yet its better than OverWatch. I mean just the other day me and my stack had an uphill battle with another stack that had 2 plat 1 players and we only got 2 percent progress to ranking up.
