Suddenly queued in Asian servers—anyone else experiencing this?

Hey everyone,

So this Friday, out of nowhere, I started getting queued exclusively in Asian servers when playing Overwatch 2 on Steam. I’ve never messed with any settings or anything; I literally just booted up the game as usual.

I know that Battle.net has this whole regions thing, but I didn’t expect this to happen on Steam. Has anyone else experienced this? The high ping is making matches super frustrating, sometimes even unplayable, and communication is tough because I can’t understand most of the chat. (It’s usually in Korean or Chinese. Japanese I can handle, but that’s rare—like 10% of the time).

Is there a fix for this, or any way to control which servers I’m being queued into? I’d really appreciate any advice because this is kind of ruining my experience.

Every update or patch (I've noticed, its usually whenever the game has an update - its fine after a few days) your regional servers fill up/not enough players, so it takes you to other servers sometimes.

I'm oce and it always takes me to sea servers (120-180ms)
Have gotten routed to American servers once which was weird (200-250ms) hitscan is usually pretty easy on 200 ping though, it doesn't have much of a delay. once you get used to it you will be fine :) but yeah playing on constant ping sucks, especially if you get routed to a place where you can't understand what people are saying :(

I am from SEA and I was constantly put to Japan (90-100ms) as well recently. I assumed there's something wrong with SG server cuz there's ping spike every time I connect to it

If you look at the steam chart, this game is only popular in Asia (game only peaks during night time in Asia and the player number drops significantly afterwards). 70% - 80% of OW 2 players are from Asia, so I'm not surprised that happened.

you can use the battlenet launcher and change region

Ernesto I have the same issue. It just started happening a few weeks ago. Region is set to north america.

that's only on steam because in china steam is the only way to play this game unless you have a vpn to connect to bnet

this game does have a much higher asian player base than it does in america but i don't think 80% of players are in asia, steam is only a small fraction of the user base because bnet is more convent and has features the steam version does not have

i never got put in asian severs but i play on bnet with na as my region, there is always quick games or instant in qp on NA at anytime

Hi, im still having this issue since feb, have you found a solution for this problem? Its been unplayable for me for months now. Im just constantly in Asia server even in practice range :(

Just got forced into rank at asian server. Won, but had to take torbjorn to have chance for kills. xD 200ms, very not responsive.
