My Overwatch 2 account got suspended. Again.
Last month, it was 14 days, and this time it’s a full month. I honestly wonder what kind of judgment Blizzard’s using to decide these bans. I mean, I’ve got an Endorsement Level 5, never had a single complaint from the enemy team, never typed anything like death threats, never typed ‘EZ’ or taunted anyone after a game. Anytime I say something rude, it’s 100% because I'm responding to a teammate who blamed me first, mocking or berating me. Or, sometimes, I just call out teammates who type ‘EZ’ after a match, even if we won, because I can’t stand people acting like spoiled brats. But no, I get banned—constantly, while the players who make this community a cesspool are apparently free to keep ruining it. They run around being rude to anyone they dislike, acting like entitled kids, and they’re left unchecked.

Then there’s the cherry on top: players with inappropriate names, spam behavior, or cheaters—oh, but we're not even touching those here. It’s just the pure toxicity of the player community itself that Blizzard does nothing about. It’s like Blizzard wants to alienate the very players who try to support the game, invest time and money, and actually care about making it better. But the people who wreck everything? Apparently, they’re the VIPs.

Honestly, it’s exhausting. I hate this game more and more every time I log on, and getting back-to-back bans like this just makes quitting even easier. At this point, I’m 100% ready to be done with it. What a waste of money and time, especially since I’ve been here since Overwatch 1. If I’m honest, Overwatch has the worst issue management of any game I’ve ever played, period. Blizzard’s truly outdone themselves in being completely clueless. It’s hilarious—how does a team-based game basically tell players that communicating is a bad idea? Because if you get reported for any reason, you’re just as likely to get banned, whether you started the conversation or not.

I’ve never seen a ban system this absurd. Even the so-called ‘most toxic games in the world,’ like MOBAs, don’t have anything this broken. I’m done with this garbage game with its garbage ban system run by a garbage company like Blizzard. I hope this game withers away once new competitors hit the market, or until all the players who actually care about it quit because Blizzard couldn’t care less about them. They’re only interested in kids who play just because it’s free, don’t care about supporting the game, and only destroy the community.

Chats are the most easiest to ban since it actually has saved logs/history Most likely you got mass reported by your own team instead of the enemy team, while cheats takes longer or imposible to ban because some hacks make it impossible to be detected or their anti cheats sucks, usually they do ban waves instead if banning one by one

Just chatting in the game puts you at more risk of getting banned than cheating? Wow, how ridiculously funny. I honestly can’t think of another game in the world with a ban system this terrible.

unironically it is, usually when your reports are valid and banned the player the system will give you a pop up notification saying "thank you for reporting bla bla". i reported so many cheaters/throwers nothing comes up for months, but then i felt petty and reported a trash talker, few hours later a pop up notification thanking me for reporting

Just stop being rude. In general it's not worth responding to someone else being rude or whining. If you have to respond, do so in a positive manner. "Naw, everyone played well. GG" or "Just doing my best, can we get more focus on their supports, help in the backline, etc"

Watching two people go at it in chat just turns it into a non-game, and is probably why you're getting reported.

Another option is to mute the other player, or turn off chat entirely.

On my last appeal when I got suspended for a month it was literally because I occasionally swore. The chat logs they referenced to "justify" it were because I said '♥♥♥♥'. Despite there being an in-game profanity filter (on by default) for people that clutch their pearls when they see a bad word, just using them is a punishable offense.

Just don't use the chat. At least then if you have to appeal next time you can fall back on that.

I'm not even being rude, and I don’t use any curse words. I’m just using sarcasm, things like: 'So you criticize everyone you don’t like without even looking at yourself, huh?' 'You’re the best, are you happy now?' 'Wow, you’re really smart—why don’t you join a pro team?' 'If you’re so good, why are you still in this rank?' 'Do you really think typing "EZ" makes you look cool? It’s like you just won after a long streak of losses.' 'Stop acting like a little brat, shut up, and use your brain to play.' I’ve never used the F-word or swore once—just being sarcastic. And honestly, I don’t think this should lead to a ban. Seriously? Just for sarcastic remarks towards these clowns, I get banned? Meanwhile, tons of idiots out there are swearing, blaming others, being offensive, threatening, or even making actual threats, and they’re playing just fine?

yes, that's toxicity, which is against the rules. You're not allowed to say anything negative, to or about anyone, ever. The game is a joke, and we just had a thread about this where people were defending Blizzard's insane policies. There are a lot of REAL soft-skinned babies playing games these days, and they especially gravitate to Blizzard's carebear hugboxes where they can weaponize reports and get people punished for just trying to enjoy the game and have fun banter.

A 'Real PvP game'? What even is that? Are there actually 'Real PvP' and 'Fake PvP' games in this world? Besides, they're completely different genres. You can’t compare an extraction shooter to an arena shooter. And, for the record, I’ve played Tarkov for about 200 hours—more than Overwatch 2 even. Of course, they feel completely different because they’re different genres. I have no idea what point you’re even trying to make.

I think real pvp would be like joining the military or something, but I'm already too old for that to be a prudent career move...
