Game Feels Smoother on Steam Than On Battle.net: Anyone Else Experienced That?
See title.

I only switched from Battle.net to Steam yesterday. I'm 99% sure it's using all my graphics settings -- unchanged -- from the Battle.net version. For both versions I cap the frame rate to 141 FPS and have AMD FreeSync on.

The frame rate appears to be the same on both (maxed at 141 seemingly the whole time), however the game just feels much smoother on Steam. It's like some kind of jankyness disappeared when I switched to Steam.

Note: I had Battle.net set to close itself after launching Overwatch, so it can't be that.

How many friend have you on Battle.net ? If you have a lot of them you should turn off all friend notifications, that's what reduces your frames

So that's weird, it has to do with input lag then, I don't know what could increase it on Bnet, it may be your PC that does not recognize Bnet as a gaming app and therefore does not optimize for Bnet, that's the only thing I can see

I have the opposite experience. Steam runs quite a few background processes. In-game FPS looks similar, but there is a small delay of some kind (input lag).

^ That's close to what I would expect. When I used to have a really, really outdated game machine, I would turn off the Steam overlay just to get 2 or 3 more FPS in some games.

They don't have to be in game to trigger the lag, they only have to generate a notification like "XXXXXXX is connected" when you are in game.

This is mostly a problem for the people that have 500+ friend, i don't have all the details but i heard that Bnet check every second the 500 people in your friend list, that create lag in the most extreme exemples

i don't notice any difference in performance but the past has often shown that the Steam version is the clearly buggy version. there are sometimes bugs that only occur in the steam version.
