Rein is not for newbs lol. Rein is difficult to use. You need to learn when to be aggressive and when not to be. If you don't know the difference you will either be useless or you will die. You need to have a cool head all the time and not get triggered or excited and break your guard when you need to be defensive. He is not easy to use!
In general, Rein is all about baiting out enemy cooldowns. Once their CDs are done you can get aggressive and charge in and kill people. Save your Firestrike for when someone is retreating and just out of your reach to finish off, then finish them off with the Firestrike. Also pay attention to your Ult, your Ult is a fight winner and time it to take down at least 3 enemies and your team basically wins.
Charge only when enemy cooldowns are done, or if doing so will let you kill a squishie or pin the tank, but only when it is a short distance. Never charge out of your Support's range. This requires some map knowledge. Absolutely never charge when you are low on life, putting your shield up and getting back to cover is almost always the correct play in these scenarios.
