You do realize the only reason WoW classic exists was because the courts told blizzard they did not have legal grounds to go after those who ran private WoW servers.
Classic WoW was done solely to create those legal grounds to go after privately ran WoW servers..
It's really just a testament to how petty blizzard can be
In the case of ow1, it's highly likely little of the games code actually exists anymore, and even if it does, it has to gotten out of blizzards hands, for any possibility of privately ran servers coming into existence
