Overwatch 2 Update 23rd July, Broke the game on steam.

With this new update which went live yesterday on steam with new Rein Mythic Skin, it totally broke the game on steam. Everytime I launch the game, steam does it 'Downloading Content' check which is verifying the game files everytime, i.e. 53gb.

Also, once you go in game, the mythic weapon effects/assets are missing. On the other hand, the battle.net version of game is working totally fine.

I hope this get addressed as soon as possible and fix it.

Calamity Empress Ashe mythic skin is also affected. Dynamite explosion effects and shotgun tracers are not visible while using this skin.

Yeah same issue with me. completely broken the steam version of the game. Was so confused why the mythic weapon effects weren't working and I guess that's why. It's crashed me out of 3 ranked games now which is so fun. I just tried to play a story mission on battlenet overwatch and crashed so wouldnt be surprised if the update is just screwed for certain people.

Oh right, it means almost all mythic weapons / Skins are affected as well. Could be even more which we haven't observed or found yet!

Yeah, most likely, will atleast stay away from steam version of overwatch for sometime until they fix it. Or else we will be getting bans for leaving mid game, which is not our fault at the first place.
