They removed 2CP for a number of reasons, none of them was because it was too quick.
The only vaguely tangential reason it might have to do with time is because it was a mode where it either got stalled for long periods of time, or you lost one fight and you just lost the entire game. Neither of which most people liked.
And besides, we have Hybrid, which means CP at least is still there.
