Game chat displays Steam tag instead of Battlenet/Blizzard tag?

Never had this problem before the new season, wondering what's up with that? Everyone else in the game still sees my Battlenet name but I see my Steam name for some reason

same, and there's always people named [unknown] in the chat (maybe they have special characters in their steam tag) and I have to check their profile to see who am i talking to
