What is the point of playing Bastion
Title. Recon mode does way more damage with headshots than assault mode making assault mode pathetically weak, assault mode is too slow to chase anything with anyway, and all he got new is a grenade that does as much damage as a 0 energy Zarya M2 and the saddest Q ever that has no use compared to the high skill ceiling of tank form. Do I seriously need to say anything else, I mained this hero pre-OW2 and now he is just free ultimate charge.

If you picked Bastion in OW1, it was a throw pick.

If you picked Bastion in OW2, it's not a bad move.

If I picked Bastion in OW1, it was to guarantee the power of amazing DPS for entire teamfights without having to worry about cooldowns.

If I pick Bastion in OW2, I press shift and either I get focused down because the damage is a tickle cannon compared to the old or I just kill nothing and go on cooldown + have no escape. Why not just be 76 at that point

He's an alternative Reaper pick, basically there to do decent damage in Recon like you mentioned, and threatening tanks like Mauga/Winston/Ramattra so they can't bully your team too aggressively. Those tanks with the correct Support can be very oppressive.

You're not wrong about Soldier being an often better alternative, but he won't win a 1v1 if you're trying to contest the same space for your team vs those tanks mentioned above.

He’s a strong damage burst switching to turret mode, and maintains with headshots out of it.

I’ve always played defensively, wait for an opening when attacking with your team, then create a wall of damage and asses who was weakened, killed or how they took the damage as a whole and plan appropriately next while still headshotting/damaging in standard form.

He is easy to play and probably the best character for new players ( and the only character I am even half "decent" at)

and though I was sad at first at his changes I like them now besides the new ult

Becouse he fire 30 bullet per second, for 15 damage, that 450 damage per second..in turret form he have best DPS in game while unlimited ammo so you just holding LFBca perma lol.
And he have no damage reduction on distance in turret form.

Bastion is like zarya, it's a braicell check for your enemies. And with mercy pocket or some ults like bap's or kiri's assault mode becomes a point-and-click - you point at them, they pop and die. Satisfying. Also his recon mode gun doesnt have recoil or spread, so more comfortable than sold or soj. Also, beep boop

All I know is as a tank main, a good Bastion scares the hell outta me. The definitive tank shredder next to Reaper.
Role play being TF2 sentry

melt shield aggressive tanks who dont care of cooldown management and walking in middle without cover aka only works against noobies but not against pro
