i dont feel comfortable calling venture they
im saying this as nicely as i can but it made me uncomfortable reading that dev update and the guy or girl saying they when addressing venture.

TLDR AT THE BOTTOM

MY POINT:

im not going to use pronouns. for those of you lgbt people who would take offense im not trying to offend. the reason i am making this post is because i just want to put out there, because i can, that i feel it is wrong to be forced to address people in a way that is to their perspective.

just because someone wants to be called a certain something doesnt mean people have to do it. i say this because i hear venture is some form of pronoun called they. i honestly cant tell if the character is a guy or a girl. i wanna say its a guy because i dont see any girl features on his body but i dont really know yet.

A SHORT STORY DISPLAYING AN EXAMPLE:

dont take it personally because its not just pronouns. when i was at a gas station at the end of covid 19, i was just doing my usual runs to the store for my 20 ounce drink. i got it around the same time every day for months. it was a routine before i moved. one day i grab the soda out of the fridge by the door as usual and get in line.

then i hear the words "excuse me sir im in line" coming from behind me. i turn around and there is a lady 20 feet behind where i stood behind the guy getting rung up. i said "come on up" she said "i dont like being close to people im sorry if that bothers you"

i then turned and looked toward the guy in front and waited to be next. she comes up next to me and says the same words again "i dont like being close to people im sorry if that bothers you"

i of course ignored her. i didnt even look at her. she steps forward just ahead of me as if she wanted to compete for the spot in line. i stepped back. i mean she came up and i wasnt gonna react to her. i stood behind her. she walked out the store. 1 minute later im being glared at by a different woman through the door. i look at her and then i look back toward the guy and pay for my drink and i walk out and go about my usual routine.

the next day i did the same thing as always except she wasnt there just as she wasnt the day before the incident. it was just a bump in the road to me nothing more.

MORAL OF THE STORY:

i shouldnt have to adhere to someone elses personal rules. just because someone expects me to do something they want me to do doesnt mean im gonna do it. just as that woman wasnt gonna get me to play her little emotional game of its about me, no company or group of people is gonna force me to call someone something that doesnt feel right to me.

thats really i wanted to share.

TLDR:

i dont feel comfortable calling someone something that isnt biological. gender to me is biology not psychology. and no one is going to force me to address someone a certain way just because they expect me too. its nothing personal and im not trying to be rude. however, i do find it rude to pressure me into calling someone something i dont feel confortable saying. venture to me is most likely a guy because he doesnt seem to have any breasts that i can tell. but i dont know.

There is one rule people are forgetting, you can believe whatever you want to believe but you don't have the right to force those beliefs on me. I am a firm believer in science and biology, and biology tells me that there are two gender, male and female. I am also a believer in Christ and the Bible tells me there are two genders, male and female.
I think the main problem here is that there is a possibility that you can get banned for not using the right pronoun. And plus, why does a multi-billion dollar company care about the gender of a character in a team shooter?

I mean, that's fine and all.. But you will be called out for being an ass because it's just SO HARD for you to refer to someone as "They" full-time...

Never have I ever seen bigger snowflakes than your typical Christian Gamer™....

It is not hard to call someone "they", it just goes against my religious beliefs. Leave it to the most "open-minded" people to have the most closed minds.
And don't say I am buddy buddy with the guy having a mental breakdown in the comments. I am not and I disagree with some of the stuff he is saying.

I mean, you probably refer to people as "They" all the time... "What're they having for dinner?" "Where are they going for vacation?", etc, etc, etc.

It's really not against your religion's value's to use the word "They" when referring to someone. It just isn't. It might be against your "Values", but Christianity itself has no objections to the word "They" being used for individuals.

I do not use they for a singular person, I was taught that the pronoun they is referred to a group of people, not one person. At this point using the pronoun they would be referring to a trans or non-binary person, which breaking my religious belief of only being two genders and that you have one gender your whole life.

Ah, so you're a bigot. Got it. Cringe. God won't ban you from Heaven for respecting a Trans person's pronouns. He'd ban you if you were trans (supposedly), but he won't ban you for being kind. Hell, even the J-Man himself says to treat even your enemies with respect. Y'know, treat others how you wanna be treated?

Be better. Be like Jesus.

I never said that Trans people or any other person are not human or don't deserve rights. I respect everyone with tolerance, I do not agree with you but I will tolerate you. Just because someone isn't part of my religion doesn't mean I don't pray for them and would do philanthropy work for them. A week ago, I built beds for kids who don't have beds, I have no idea if they are Christians or not but I still built beds for them. I have not called you anything without constructive criticism. I have a question, you talked about the old saying, "Treat others how you want to be treated". Then, why should I respect your beliefs if you don't respect mine?

I literally explained why you're just being rude, and that being a christian doesn't require you to disregard a person's preferred pronouns. Sure, they won't get in Heaven, but you will even if you respect their preferred pronouns.

I never said anything about this;

You're the one who's bringing Trans Rights into the discussion, not me. You don't need to be an extremist to be a bigot. Not respecting someone's pronouns is bigoted, for example.

As for the whole "not respecting your beliefs"? I literally explained to you that your own religious reasoning is BS. It's personal bias of your own, not your Religion. I've got plenty of churches around my town that put it the way I put it to you, so... Definitely a personal bigotry problem you've got.

For the first part, it is my duty to spread the name of Jesus Christ and the Bible, and that is what I am doing. It is my mission to help people find Jesus and repent for their sins. And the second part, do you know who agrees with me? Most Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, Coptic, Lutherans, Anglicans and Baptists. And most of Christianity as a whole. Of course there is going to be churches who agree with you, but does that mean every church agrees with you?

You just used them as a singular pronoun, twice in a row. Someone is one person, its not sometwo.

If I meet a person on the street and they say hello, I say hello back to them. That sentence is normal and something you would use, yes? "Them" is the persons singular pronoun in that sentence

I mean, my stance is "Treat others how you want to be treated", so I imagine most good churches would, indeed, extend the most basic respects to anyone, regardless of their background, up to and including respecting pronouns.

Plus, y'know...

About the church thing, most churches do give respect to any one who enters it. My church still greets people who are not Christian, they pref for them and wish for them.
