i dont feel comfortable calling venture they
im saying this as nicely as i can but it made me uncomfortable reading that dev update and the guy or girl saying they when addressing venture.

TLDR AT THE BOTTOM

MY POINT:

im not going to use pronouns. for those of you lgbt people who would take offense im not trying to offend. the reason i am making this post is because i just want to put out there, because i can, that i feel it is wrong to be forced to address people in a way that is to their perspective.

just because someone wants to be called a certain something doesnt mean people have to do it. i say this because i hear venture is some form of pronoun called they. i honestly cant tell if the character is a guy or a girl. i wanna say its a guy because i dont see any girl features on his body but i dont really know yet.

A SHORT STORY DISPLAYING AN EXAMPLE:

dont take it personally because its not just pronouns. when i was at a gas station at the end of covid 19, i was just doing my usual runs to the store for my 20 ounce drink. i got it around the same time every day for months. it was a routine before i moved. one day i grab the soda out of the fridge by the door as usual and get in line.

then i hear the words "excuse me sir im in line" coming from behind me. i turn around and there is a lady 20 feet behind where i stood behind the guy getting rung up. i said "come on up" she said "i dont like being close to people im sorry if that bothers you"

i then turned and looked toward the guy in front and waited to be next. she comes up next to me and says the same words again "i dont like being close to people im sorry if that bothers you"

i of course ignored her. i didnt even look at her. she steps forward just ahead of me as if she wanted to compete for the spot in line. i stepped back. i mean she came up and i wasnt gonna react to her. i stood behind her. she walked out the store. 1 minute later im being glared at by a different woman through the door. i look at her and then i look back toward the guy and pay for my drink and i walk out and go about my usual routine.

the next day i did the same thing as always except she wasnt there just as she wasnt the day before the incident. it was just a bump in the road to me nothing more.

MORAL OF THE STORY:

i shouldnt have to adhere to someone elses personal rules. just because someone expects me to do something they want me to do doesnt mean im gonna do it. just as that woman wasnt gonna get me to play her little emotional game of its about me, no company or group of people is gonna force me to call someone something that doesnt feel right to me.

thats really i wanted to share.

TLDR:

i dont feel comfortable calling someone something that isnt biological. gender to me is biology not psychology. and no one is going to force me to address someone a certain way just because they expect me too. its nothing personal and im not trying to be rude. however, i do find it rude to pressure me into calling someone something i dont feel confortable saying. venture to me is most likely a guy because he doesnt seem to have any breasts that i can tell. but i dont know.

Trans people and non-binary aren't saying others aren't as oppressed as them, they're saying they are oppressed because they face very real issues and most are often life threatening. They didn't ask for these problems, nor have they enabled it in any way other than just existing. You say you don't care yet you've come into an exact thread discussing the problems of acceptance where some of the people here can't even respect them as if they're any other person.

It's almost like with social media times have gotten more present so there's more acceptance of LGBT+ but still not enough, of course you're going to see it more often because most aren't afraid to come out yet we're still facing this issue that people like OP would rather defend their paedophilic friend than accept that someone is different from them.

You don't get to say who isn't born in the wrong body, that's not your right nor is it your understanding. Trans and non-binary are not mentally ill for not identifying with the gender they are born as, gender dysphoria is mutually exclusive from that and if anything they are more happy and less likely to suffer from gender dysphoria, depression, and other mental disorders when they receive medical and emotional support to transform into the gender they identify as and not their biological sex. And where exactly is this evidence? Cite your sources because I have not seen "more and more people are regretting it as they get older".
Again, no one is born in the wrong body. The reason being is that there's no such thing as "the wrong body". Your body is yours, regardless of how you feel about it. Learning to love yourself as you are is important because these days there's so many people who end up hating who they are because of people like you saying "it's okay, you were born in the wrong body!"

That's not how it works. If I said I should have been born without an arm, would you question my sanity? I would, because it's factually incorrect. It's the same with gender identity. Gender dysphoria is a first world issue derived from laziness, complacency and the social decay of humanity started with widespread internet usage. Sure, some people truly believe they were born in the wrong body before the internet was a thing but they were mentally ill like most of them are today.

Trans people are not in any way more at risk of being physically harmed or killed than anyone else. Stop saying that because it's completely false.

Also, no, it's not because there's more acceptance that people are "coming out", it's because people are being pushed into the ideology by people like yourself who continue to enable mental issues within this ideology.

In this case, if you want to get down to brass tax here. This Character Venture was created with out a defined gender of male or female, they are defined as a Non-binary fictional person by the creators. Non-binary just means they don't feel like a man or woman, it doesn't matter what body they came in. Its their choice what they feel like, its also their body. But in this case it was the creators choice to make the char Non-binary. You can't define them any other way they were created Non-binary. They were never male or female to begin with.

Just like some people in our world are. Gender is a concept/identity people have been defined by, our reproductive organs just make us different by what we can do to continue our species. It doesn't define who someone is on the inside or how they act nor does it define what they like or who they like. Its crazy to think that a person is just a person and they get to make their own choices. Everyone is so locked down on the rules of societal norms, they forget that people aren't beholden to everyone else's rules/upbringing/religion/etc... In this case we don't get to define who someone is just by looking at them. Just like they can't force you to understand they are who they are, just like you or I.

Honestly at this point y'all are just encouraging devs to throw more queer characters into games because they can do the absolute scummiest ♥♥♥♥ possible but toss in one character with skinny tits and rainbow hair and y'all will ignore everything else to do free advertising for them. I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ *wish* I was playing the games you people were scared of.

I mean, yes, Venture is literally a fictional collection of pixels, however they are whatever the writers wrote them to be, your head canon holds as much weight as people shipping characters with no chemistry.
I mean for all you know they could end up being transfem nonbinary, in which case you might actually be affirming them.

When Venture first came out, seemed like a girl to me.

Still seems like a girl now, albeit a bit of a goofy one, tomboy essentially.

I'll respect and uphold chosen pronouns in real life for people out of courtesy and respect, but I couldn't give a toss as to what a video game character identifies as.

They're a set of pixels, they aren't real. They have no feelings, thoughts, or sentience. I typically leave in-game chat for the smack talk and banter anyway, so Venture's pronouns or gender identity wouldn't come in conversation for me anyway.

I've been playing OW since day one, supposedly, Tracer is a Lesbian in the comics which is great for her. As a non-comic reader, I don't care? It has no bearing on whether I pick her in a match or how I talk about her. If anything, I remember the nonsense over her in-game pose emphasising her backside way back when more so than anything to do with her gender identity or sexuality.
you also don't give a toss if you're hurting people by spreading your thinly veiled bigotry
bigotry is bigotry no matter how much mental gymnastics you do lol
you went out of your way to spread your message, at least own it or do better?

There is no thinly veiled bigotry because I've explicitly declared that I still affirm people in real life by accepting and calling them by their chosen pronouns, whether for the sake of gender identity or genuine sex-based transformation, or whatever.

Saying I couldn't care less about the orientation of a set of pixels. Their identity won't come up in conversations in chat for me, to me, they're just venture. For the people who read the comics, lore dumps, expanded universe stuff? Go nuts, that's awesome, I'm just here to pick a hero and play some matches.

There is no set of mental gymnastics on display here, only somebody with the reading comprehension of a child looking to start an argument, that would of course, be you.

I posted an opinion, a very civil one actually that didn't deny nor confirm Venture's written identity, I just said I thought Venture looked like a tomboy-girl at first glance and still seemed like one, that doesn't mean I will call Venture that in-game, or in chat.

Give your head a massive wobble.

I just dont understand why the devs making such a fuss on implementing this crazy things, like they/them are u more then one person cmon, this is a videogame it shouldnt have real life elements in which some are crazy, devs are paying more attention this is minor things and not fixing the game. (Venture is a girl that is it.)

If venture is written to be non-binary, then they are non-binary, the writers determine it. and for all you know they could be biologically male or intersex or female, there's no way to know.
