Do i need a phone number to play on steam?

as the title states my battlenet account got hacked and to make a new account i need to link my phone but cant play because my phone was used to make my account that got hacked :c

Go to a store and use cash to buy a prepaid credit card or buy a prepaid phone with the cash instead.

Don't use a real name or email, if you need an email I'd use someone else's or use a Proton mail account or another more anonymous service. ♥♥♥♥ this world where we aren't allowed to have any sort of privacy and everything needs our identification put all over it even to play a video game. Insane.

What difference does doing this make? Probably none.

They have removed the "REQUIREMENT" from the Steam copy
Make a fresh bnet account without "SMS" and use the steam copy
