And if your positioning is that poor, it must mean you're playing at a lower skill level.
If you get to higher skill levels, there are a lot of things that will end you much more effectively and easily than D. Va ult if your positioning hasn't improved by then.
Fun fact: When D.Va was first introduced in original Overwatch her Self-Destruct used to also hurt her.

As a DVA main I can safely say that her ult is terrible lol. Its almost a liability to use it sometimes cuz there's so many characters that can instant kill her write after the explosion or stop her remeching with stuns.
Just use it with low health or to create space. There's some timings you can do or like syncing it with a sombra or mei ult can help to get kills though. Counting down their cool downs or shields is the thing I do if I can get one kill out of it I'm happy tbh.
