Mercy's Design is Terrible.

Title, I honestly don't know where to start with her, no one else had as much debated controversy as Mercy until they introduced Sombra going invisible, but at least she can't completely turn the tables as frequently as Mercy.

She has the lowest skill floor and ceiling I've ever seen in an FPS shooter. Actually she requires no skill at all. Her gameplay is designed purely on their teamates skill and even they won't have much considering she's always hiding behind a tank with high health and DPS, so it's pretty much safe anyway.

Her gameplay is also just boring. I honestly don't see why people like to play her unless they just like seeing "You Win!" on their freaking screen, not to mention she's insanely popular in pick rates. It's just absurd, this is easily the worst designed character in all of shooting game history, people who disagree probably just got crutched by a Mercy.

She has a low skill floor and high skill ceiling, and if you're a Mercy relying solely on DPS and not taking out picks on low HP enemies then you're not doing enough as her. This entire thread just tells me you have a misunderstanding of her character, her also having a high pick rate doesn't mean she has a high win rate either she's just one of those characters that a lot of players enjoy playing despite the fact she isn't meta.

Mercy exists so every player who's garbage at fps games and is unwilling to put in the effort to get good, can feel like they are good. By what is effectively boosting..

I mean take virtually any supprt play who has half or more their ranked play time on mercy.. make them queue solo and watch them get trounced because 90% are boosted

I agree, her design is pretty bad i mean almost every support has tools for healing and damaging, depends on what they need, but Mercy has no flexibility at all and it's just the same gameplay all the time. So if your heal doesn't work you just have to heal harder, damn it even sounds stupid.

I'm pretty sure there are people who don't have much ""skill"" but still want to enjoy the game and support people as much as they can. And that's why there's Mercy. Her healing skills are the best (fast healing, reviving teammates and boosting attacks). My point is that she's perfect for people who prefer supporting other than mix of of killing and somehow supporting.

Just because you have a game built for porn doesn’t make it better, you deviant.

Medic can do what mercy does, just less unbalanced and better. Fast healing? All mediguns do that, quick-fix being the utter fastest. Buffing team mates? Kritzkrieg gotcha covered. Tanking lots of damage from specific damage sources? Bam, vaccinator. Gotta break a defense? Stock medigun has ya covered with its über. No need to swap to other support classes that all play wildly different despite all doing similar things in order to make or break a game.
though i wont lie, having multiple characters doing different things while healing like in ow2 is cool. at this point id say mercy needs a rework to fit in with the cool ♥♥♥♥ every other character does. she plays like an out of place tf2 medic ripoff with wings and OP team revive ability

You're comparing a dead Valve game that hasn't been updated for years and left in the dust to Overwatch who won game of the year that still gets updates even if the game didn't go the direction they announced. You can hate Overwatch, but comparing TF2 is silly. It's all you've been doing for several months in OW2 forums, something tells me TF2 forums aren't too exciting for you if you're still here obsessing about a game you hate.

mercy is pretty much just a damage boost bot in high elo tho and moria is mid too

Like I said, the game hasn't gone the direction they announced which warrants hate and frustration because the point of its new start was to have PvE content thats been scrapped but at least it actually gets updated unlike TF2. As for Mercy, she isn't the only character receiving 20$ skins and the gooner content for any fictional character in general is funny in a sad way. Mercy isn't meant to be a DPS support, the best thing that she can do is take picks on low health enemies but other than that there is no way to change Mercy without making her extremely frustrating to verse but at least she doesn't have old res. Mercy has been one of the worst tier supports for a long while now, even if she was changed to be better people will still complain like they already do with just about any hero lmao

Anyway, TL;DR if you hate Overwatch then be more productive with your time and play something else instead of sitting in forums obsessing about it and comparing a dead game to a bad game.
