Why do people hate Venture?

They are a great addition to the game. I don't see why people always have to be so negative about new updates. The people at Blizzard Entertainment do their best to give you new content for free, and they even went so far as to add this game to Steam for a great experience to Steam users.
I'll admit that Venture is somewhat "unbalanced" right now, but almost every new Hero was at some point in the game. I'm certain that they will get balanced later in a future patch.

Nobody ever complained about Soldier on release, but Blizzard was still using fairly grounded ability sets and ults.

If you look at newer characters, they all have a combination of insane mobility, ults that totally shut down an area for an extended period of time, and some form of self-sustain or total invulnerability. Venture gets a dash cooldown reduction move that can convert into an air launch with an AOE explosion, all while totally invulnerable and difficult to see; players have to take their eyes off the frontline/obj to deal with it, because otherwise Ven will wreck the backline or dash away to an unreachable location.

Venture is another hero with like 5sec invincibility. We didn't need another Mei, it is just annoying (other than that, she's overtuned and prob that's why)

I hardly see people dominate with venture. The ult is kinda busted at times for how ez it clears squishy targets but other than that, it's just okay.

It's also easily blocked by barriers and... possibly jumping? I genuinely don't know its vertical range.

Because forced inclusivity. Most people are okay with being inclusive as long as the metrics are similar to real life but OW is oversaturated with POC and LGBT characters compared to the world most of us assume it's set in.
