Right now ranked it's boring and useless, so everybody is gonna play unranked. Now this is the point, if someone has played for hundreds of hours in ranked, why are they gonna low their skill for the unranked? This is your answers.

And trust me, i've experienced the same question at the end of the last season.

Its a game that COULD be fun, but Blizzard's Engagement Optimized Matchmaking ensures that it never is. I mean there is no point 10 out of 10 winstreaking quick play and lose your mind over losses that do nothing to your rating or whatever. I always thought it exists to practice various techniques, playstyles, learn a character you never play or just to relax, have a nice chat, shoot some guys.

I tried hanzo recently and I don't usually play him and know nothing of his arrow ballistics. Hence doing obviously not great with my score, my teammates reminded me several times of my poor kd, called trash and eventually asked opposite team to report me. And this is one of many. I just find it fascinating how it is even possible.

its mosly due to the bad matchmaker

the matchmaker has a goal, to make 'skill 5' = 'skill 5' on both teams.

so if 4 players have 'skill 0.25' and one player has 'skill 4' that is acceptable according to the matchmaker.

so the ranked guys who have a very high rating by the matchmaker, will continually get paired up with people who just started playing an hour ago, because that's fair and balanced gameplay.

anyway, regardless if this is exact or not, the matchmaker is a huge part of why ow2 stinks real bad atm. i find it hilarious either way, that blizzard is taking an amazing application, and driving it downwards into the toilet.

it just gets to a point where i can't defend it anymore lol.

what i find funny is people are more toxic in qp than comp, at least in comp you have people who are trying to win fr so they try to hype up the team and keep everyone in good spirits but in qp people just have the only ego

Again, its not because of the winstreaking or whatever, its because of how obnoxiously bad it is.

If you are on say, loss 4 in a row (because your winrate was over 50% and still hasn't dropped so its still putting you against Esports gods) and the enemy Widow is throwing out headshot kill after headshot kill effortlessly, while your Widow can't seem to get a bullet to go within 20 feet of their target, you are going to notice how annoyingly bad that matchup is.

Now, imagine you are a casual gamer, or god forbid, a Blizzard defender, so you don't know that the matchmaking is intentionally rigged. You don't understand that Blizzard is FORCING you to lose right now. You instead think "If the game has tried to put me in a fair match, and I'm going against a Widow who has landed 50 headshots in a row, that means I must be a good player. Why then, has MY teams Widow not landed a single bullet yet? The matchmaker put them with me, they must be of my skill level too. They must be throwing and intentionally ruining my match". This starts building animosity towards that less skilled player because the game is trying to convince you that they are not less skilled by lying to you about how the matchmaker works.

Follow this up with this being every Overwatch 2 match you have ever experienced and you just being beaten down and becoming bitter from a game designed not to entertain you, but to put a vacuum in your wallet. You now care less about being a douche to people because the only thing you want is to have fun in this game, and since Blizzard lies about how bad its matchmaker is, you think the reason you aren't is other people not trying, so you lash out at the people "intentionally" ruining your fun.

The long story short is, its all caused by Blizzard. They intentionally made this matchmaker that purposefully hands out wins and losses because some data shows certain winstreaks get people to spend money more, while certain loss streaks have the lower probability of the player getting annoyed and quitting, and force players of extremely uneven skill to face each other in accordance to which players need forced wins and which ones need forced losses. Players who understand this don't really lash out in QP because they know their teammates aren't throwing but are just a victim of a rigged matchmaker, but people who DON'T understand how rigged the matchmaker is and just believe Blizzards lies at face value that the matchmaker doesn't force results, assume that they are always playing with trolls, and thus feel justified in being rude to them.

Its the outcome of when a development studio designs every facet of their game around making profit. Even the parts of it that could be fun like the gameplay get muddied by some manipulative BS like the matchmaker that ruins the enjoyment factor the game could otherwise have, and makes its players miserable, which they take out on each other.

it's not rigged your team could just be bad because they are playing hereos they are not good at, the mmr system is not perfect esp in a game like ow where heroes have different playstyles from eachother
