The game always starts "downloading content" When clicking play?
never did this if played trough battle.net only. What is this? its not content, its just saying its downloading content and postponing starting the game.

I have had this issue forever. I stopped trying to troubleshoot it, and just accept it as a Blizzard Feature to the game.

doesnt happen in the battle.net thing. Most likely ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up integration with steam.

I'm able to play OW2 through Steam without it downloading anything so its likely something else causing that.

that is most probably a problem with your hard drive/ssd. happens with other games too sometimes. try deleting your download cache maybe itll work. dont take my word for it tho

its the only game where it happens to me. it could be because we also have it installed on battle net?

Nah, doesnt happen with any other game in that specific SSD M2.
Happening to me aswell only game
If this persists will have to go back to battle.net which has it's own problems however at least it's not twenty minutes to launch

I've only seen this happen a couple of times. It doesn't bother me, tho. I just cancel the boot sequence and restart it again.

this happens to me damn near every launch of the game, and I've never had it happen with anything but Overwatch

it's extra weird because the popup says "Downloading" but on the Downloads screen the game is under the Completed section and says "Validating". and the activity is all disk, no network, which tracks with that status

idk maybe it's a ham-fisted way of preventing cheating via tampering with the game files

verify the game and see if your firewall is blocking something i had this problem until i did both of those

be happy that it doesn't occur as soon as you find a match that issue for w.e reason just doesn't have a user side fix

as I see it, no one has understood how to solve the problem?

No, it's definitely a Steam thing. This never happens on Battle.net but happens from time to time on Steam.
