You're not being empathetic towards the person who left, there are different reasons for them leaving that you don't know about. Interesting to see you talk about empathy when you demonstrated a lack of that in this comment.

Sure OP could toughen up and take the loss, but I doubt OP is leaving every losing game because there's more factors that are making the match unfun for him.

Ok but alternatively you need to abandon 6 games within 20 matches to get an abandon penalty so maybe just dont play the game if you are going to leave 1/4 of matches.

More bad news. If you leave a MISSION (Invasion DLC) and nobody joins, the moment you quit, it counts as if you abandon a match and you get a penalty.

No, he literally stated his reason in the OP. There aren't different reasons, he stated his. I am actively showing empathy by keeping this comment PC though.

And you want OP to write an entire story about what led up to him leaving a losing match so you can continue to blame him for not enjoying the game he was put in? It's a pixel video game, him leaving a match isn't killing anyone irl but keep coping tho.

what empathy? you have to leave 6 games to get a 20 min suspension at the point you should prob just go play some other game, like i can nderstand if you're getting dced because bad internet but op said he leaves games if hes losing lol

Considering this isn't the first thread complaining about unranked having penalties for leaving, the issue lies with Blizzard's refusal to fix their rigged matchmaking that causes a lot of their players to not enjoy playing full matches because they can already tell from the start of the match if it will be a win or not, also mentioning the last couple of legitimate threads talking about their experiences with this game and getting tons of losses. No one likes losing but when you're intentionally put into a predetermined match where no matter what you do you will still lose, it's no wonder OW2 has garnered the hate that it has. At least OP isn't leaving competitive matches which are even worse taking into account you don't get backfills for ranked matches.

While I agree that quickplay can be sweatier and more difficult than comp, all games do this to keep player retention up, for example Valorant unrated games can be as one sided and you get a penalty from your first leave even, sure the frequency could be adjusted for overwatch but from my personal experience it has been acceptable, I've never had massive losing streaks, unless I am stacking with friends.

i wouldn't really call it rigged matchmaking, if you keep losing your mmr goes down and you fight worse players but if you keep winning your mmr goes up and you will fight more skilled players, thats just how skill based matchmaking works

and yeah valorant and pretty much every competitive fps game does this

My mindset is better. Just if you are going to lose a match then there is no point of playing it out. Just give people no reward and get on to the next.
