Watching high level gameplay might not help you that much because things play out differently in higher ranks, but if you watch a high level player do unranked to top 500 it will show you how they play when they have bad teammates.
Flats and KarQ don't care about their rank because they know they are good players and will just climb back up quickly, they aren't interested in minmaxing the game as they are content creators playing for entailment, you should check out some educational creators like Spilo instead, KarQ does have some good educational videos for newer/casual players but his primary goal is still to be entertaining.
You don't have to worry about how your team plays you can have a massive impact on the game, it's just different from other fps games, it's closer to a moba dota/league in the type of skillset you need to use. In league you can also solo carry, I never got much into dota but i assume it's the same. If you want a game that will reward you for just having raw fps mechanical skill this isn't the game for you.
Tbh don't worry about your rank or your team just never stop trying to become a better player your rank will go up without you even realizing.
And yeah there are toxic people in every rank, but no one was born knowing how to play overwatch, everyone who is consistently high ranked had to work on their own personal skill to get there. I just mean overall the higher in ranks you go the better competitive mindset most people will start to have.
You can still carry tho:

yeah i opened a discussion about this a few mins ago, the new ranked system doesnt allow even top 500 players to get out of plat with a 15 game winstreak (Awkward streamed today U2GM on lucio went 15-2 and didnt rank up out of plat 2, he was rank 1 in OW1 and OW2)
He only had a few hours to play lucio give him some time lol.
if you think about it, why would a ranked system allow a top 500 player to play against plat players? imagine yourself playing against him, would that be fun to you? i play ranked to be matched against player that are at my skill to see if i can improve.
edit: typo
The matchmaking doesn't care about your cosmetic rank, just checks the range of the match. If you are at the higher end, the matchmaking thinks you are overrated, and if you are at the lower end, it thinks you are underrated.
Awkward is not a good example since he rigged his rank in order to have something to climb, because otherwise, he would pop into the master/GM/top 500 at the end of the placement matches, and that would be boring.
The ranked system is the same, they just give you a progress bar instead of keeping it hidden until 5 games. In the mid-season patch they added a new thing where if you rank down you won't lose progress extra progress on the rank below, which is something that should prevent you from losing more for losing streaks.
last season Awkward did U2GM on reaper (as you know he is a support main, mainly ana and zen), do you know how many games it took him to reach GM5? 5 GAMES.
on Hanzo? 5 games to reach Diamond, 15 to reach masters. (INCLUDING PLACEMENTS)
and in the current rank system after 15 win streak do you know where he was placed? PLAT 2. don't you see a problem here?
pretty resembles me old 2017 overwatch comp btw
has someone else says
Yeah, in 5 years, people will say they want the 50/50 Overwatch back. Life is a loop.
