Overwatch® 2

Statistiche:
I feel like OW2 is more toxic than OW1 and the reporting system is not actually helping, as much as causing harm.
I'm saying this from the lens that OW2 is 5v5, meaning each bad person's impact or lack thereof is amplified compared to OW1, on paper, and in practice it also means that those people will be called out repeatedly more than anyone else, even if they are just getting into the game, or practicing a new hero, or adjusting to the ever-changing landscape of the game. Hell, even little screw ups brew toxicity, like "Why did my Rein charge in and die? If you had just sat on point, we would've ran it up to 99% and gotten an opportunity for a retake win if we even lost that team fight. Instead we were left with 4v5 and a tank down."That is a scenario that has happened COUNTLESS times to ANY AND EVERY OW player. Now that doesn't mean your Rein is a bad player, or that you're a good player or anything, but the reliance on having a tank every team fight is so heavy it's crazy because everyone does so much damage now. 2-tap Kiriko is a meme at this point, for instance.

Nevermind the fact that OW2 is free to play, and I feel like that causes a more steady influx of new players, comparatively.

I also feel like you're not *allowed* to say anything back if someone is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on you. If you do, chances are you're going to have 5 people report you before the game's end. And the thing is, it could be asking for someone to switch to something to counter someone on the other team that's doing very good against us. You could point out, "Hey, Sombra is consistently in the back lines getting support and we need help," and it will have a high risk of going poorly. It's happened to everyone, and no matter how politely you say anything, someone will get upset. Might call you all sorts of names. I have reported so many people like this without saying anything back, and I never really get the notification that my reports are doing anything. The problem with trying to call out things that are happening in match that you need help with, like people being in the back taking out supports, is that it's a team based game. It's a team based game that needs communication, and using the chat is often times a risky move for your ability to use it in the future at all, just people people get upset if they think you are implying they're not good at the game.

I have even run across people who just report willy-nilly when they loose, or if someone is typing in chat at all. You can find threads of people saying, "Only reason I started reporting was cause I kept getting reported for no reason lol," or "I got silenced for 2 weeks because I would say, "that's lame," "L," and "you're being lame," and that's literally it."

Hell, I have two games recorded of Widowmaker's using aimbot since the most recent patch, and reporting them has done nothing either. Because it seems the bots running OW2's report system are caring about keywords or amounts of reports and not anything outside of that. And I have seen countless times that you can't appeal, Blizzard just closes the ticket regardless or takes so long that it doesn't matter anymore.

But I see countless threads speaking on how they have been reported for dumb things. It's insane. Here are two, for instance, but you can just google it too.

I don’t know why I expected a thread about OW setting up their game for toxicity to not end in people flocking here to be toxic. Parry is right. If you can’t see that, I don’t know. Don’t argue with the sole purpose of saying “you’re wrong” and give little to no good argument otherwise.

People are treated poorly in the game and Blizzard does nothing about it. The game is unbalanced, and Blizzard can’t seem to ever get it somewhat stable.

And on a note Rocket brought up, “All 8 girls I used to play with got banned for toxicity too. From normal reactions” is absolutely real, especially noting the way guys like the Jordan Peterson account immediately started saying women are treated better because you can’t call them fat in game without getting in trouble or something similar (don’t care to reread it rn).

If a tank can't do its primary goal of being a damage sponge and mitigating damage, then they're a bad tank.

And if they do that - but have no dps to follow up on their push = tank diff , according to you.

play tank more because you don’t know what you’re talking about . it’s a team game , don’t expect one role to do its best if the other is underperforming , this is in no way exclusive to tanks - at all. tanks suffer the most if their team is bad because 99% of the player base is awful at understanding the match and scoreboard .
Why are you intentionally misconstruing what I'm saying. Im saying what a tanks job is primarly supposed to do. That doesnt mean they shouldnt contribute damage. Read between the lines. Do you think I meant that tanks should not contribute to dps or something?

they want you to be positive and happy when the game itself is lackluster. toxicity in the forums are the true feelings, you have to be fake in game. id rather let my nuts hang here then in there
I just do not speak in game anymore, which also defeats the purpose of it being a team-based communication game… which is unfortunately what led me to think about this problem and make this thread.
