Maintaining said thresholds woukd be impossible if the matchmaking system tried to make fair matches..
When a games playbase has a healthy level of skill diversity within it. Matches are still far from even, however that unevenness is much less visable... due to matches being made with players thar have similar skill raitings..
However every game I've ever played that uses this type of matchmaking system, experiences the skill diversity of its playerbase degenerate. The worse the skill diversity gets, the more uneven matches get, in order to ensure those thresholds are maintained
Eventually the lack of skill diversity will become so bad, the matchmaking system will implode, as it has in literally ever game that has used this type of matchmaking system.. none of which have ever survived their matchmaking system imploding..
Ow2 is a timebomb, and blizzard wants it to be..
They aren't entirely separate either..
The average win rate matchmaking looks at when placing you, is a total average of all lobbies combined..
What this basically means is you can throw matches/win dodge in qp/arcade, in order to artificially deflate your win rate to manipulate matchmaking into giving you "easier" matches in comp...
Then when they start getting a little stompy against you, back to qp/arcade to deflate it again...
It's not exploiting, it's just utilizing the fundamental flaws of it to your advantage..
It wont get you from gold to masters.. but its just one of many ways players can abuse tge broken systems of this game
