Like social media, multiplayer games create addiction in the form of dopamine drip.
To explain what I mean, I'll compare lootboxes and Facebook
On Facebook the reason people use it is because when you scroll you could SEE ANYTHING. It stimulates reward responses in your brain when you scroll and find something new and entertaining.
Lootboxes work in the exact same way. You suddenly find a cool item, and it makes the last 15 boxes not only worth it, but addicting.
Multiplayer lobbies function on the same logic. A game could have any result. It could have a nice player that emotes with you.
You could make a rival. You could get pog. You could see a Doom use new tank tech you hadn't considered.
This sense of unknown sets MP games like OW apart from traditional SP games.
When your mind gets addicted to this social 'lootbox' of multiplayer games, it can be really hard to quit cold turkey and go back to a game that relies on your imagination and patience to create immersion.
I urge you though, to break the habit. Understanding is the first step
I am going to be honest Blizzard earned the highest negative rating on a triple A game on steam. They have the absolute worst moderating and you are right bans people for literally no reason.
Genuinely never give Blizzard another dime again. Maybe they will go bankrupt. We can only hope.
Especially if you use Linux , like me
I've been doing Apex because at least I can play loba and get nice loot
If you can play it without thinking about spending any money, it's very well designed to keep you playing for a long while.
The issue isn't the game but the greedy developers when it comes to microtransactions.
tbh apex isn't more fair than this game's monetization
Overwatch is a counter swap game by nature.
Apex has locked in heroes. That means having locked heroes behind a grind/paywall is far less punishing
Even valorant has ow beat.
Poor ow. Would literally be the worst AAA shooter available if MWIII hadn't been so bad
Same company though so it tracks.
find similar alternatives if you are "addicted" to switch or try to decrease dependency.
you'd get the same punishment breaking the rules on any other game, especially now because most games now record audio and replays of the gameplay and can easily investigate reports now, more than ever before in the past.
blizzard isn't making good moves with overwatch and is worthy of its due criticism, but i don't thing using misinformation is a good tactic.
information on account suspension[us.battle.net]
right
well if its true it certainly doesn't help anything. automatic ban after x reports is so easily abused thats crazy =x
i know blizzard is also an easy target right now on steam due to the state of the game in general, but I will still stop to question, because so very many people out there are dishonest.
i hope you can appreciate that i wait to gather the information before picking a side, even if every move the company has made has been profit oriented for the last 5 years =x
yeah that is kinda bs, not even offensive tbh
That video was exactly on point. Thanks for confirming my convictions.
