TF2 Is a prime example.
As many behind the bots were one community creators and developers who are taking a stand against what the game and valve have become over the last decade.
To some degree this is likely true for overwatch as well..
Then there's also a financial incentive in tf2s case.. as botting can be utilized to farm for profit..
There's people with literally 10k steam wallet balances generated entirely though tf2 botting..
