They don't exist to do damage. Neither do healers. But decent tanks and heals will out dps, dps. Starting players feel overwhelmed and I've seen dps the most affected by tanks and healers dealing huge damage.
Healers are too busy trying to keep the tank alive because everyone's dealing so much damage. As someone who played a LOT of Overwatch 1. That's one of the largest changes I have seen.
It got worse when they released 5v5. But when they released OW 2, they did so much damage compared to Ow1. Healers focus more on damage in a lot of games.
It would fix a lot of issues.
They could just bring back the second tank and fix the tank issue.
This is so far from what I'm talking about. -.-
Tank and support are the most difficult roles! I practically stopped playing as a support, even if you are a top healer and a top damage dealer on support (Baptist, Ana, Illari), you do not influence the game in any way if your tank and damage dealers are garbage.
Also, playing on a tank, I know with a high probability that if I have two snipers on my team like Hanzo, Widowmaker, Ash, most often we will lose, because they will be in the save and AFK, and I will receive damage on the tank from the entire enemy team, and the fact that I use cooldowns better, strafe better, play from the save places, use better positions, will not save me.
A tank is a role that pushes forward and absorbs a lot of damage and thereby gives space to its team, the tank must create pressure in the game and not let the enemy team through, but there are damage dealers who do many times more damage than a tank.
If you were smarter, you would understand that it is mainly damage dealers who win games, they flank, go behind and kill backline, find the best angles for shooting, and the tank only gives space to the team. Yes, a tank can also dive, but it depends more on whether you are pushing or defending, and on the enemy's pick.
You also don’t understand that supports have players who are priority targets. if you heal everyone, then most likely you and the second support are stealing each other’s ultimate accumulation. The ultimate economy is one of the important concepts in the game. The problem you pointed out is not a problem with the tank or support as a role, it's a problem with your team that your DD or tank can't knowing how to play and take a lot of damage. The main problem is that they do not play from cover, and play in the center of the map. Also, this may be a consequence of the fact that you are all playing solo and not as a team.
You absolutely do not understand the game and the roles in the game, everything you wrote is a problem with the skills of the low ELO player.
I'm sellen in OW
I watched this pretty good theory video on the subject.
I think the problem usually comes down to the flex support.
The space a flex support creates with their cool downs is vital for tank and DPS to operate. So they need to fit the overall composition of the team

and yes, this is precisely why i hate playing tanks in pubs. i know when i'm overextended and can't get heals, but lot of times it isn't just the case.
Sometimes it can be outright a death sentence to help an extended tank, even at what may seem like a reasonable place.
Hanzos are crazy good shots, and it can be easy to forget that when you have 450 health and a pocket.
That's why the video I linked was so eye opening for me.
If you're playing a brawl centric tank, and both you're healers favor poke meta, this discrepancy gets worse.
Depending on what role you main, understanding who you can switch to to better synergize with your team can be a life saver in pubs.
Lmfao.. the meta has absolutely nothing to do with it..
The fact that players blindly follow it, is one major reason why they never improve..
As they mimic high level players, while having little to no understanding of the logic behind it, without that logical understanding, your not learning anything, just copying them..
Used to see this all the time in my moba days. Players blindly copying professional player builds then getting mad and blaming the game for it not working. Like copying that physical defense build is going to work out extremely well, versus enemy players who mostly deal magic damage...
Bad players are bad due to wilful ignorance, they refuse to overcome..
Blaming the meta, is increadably pathetic, especially when 99% of players doing it don't even play at a level where it matters
It's just another example of players trying to blame the game because they lack understanding of the game, which makes them bad, and they refuse to admit that, instead blaming anything no matter how absurd it is..
What you're saying is completely right, but also even top 500 players recognize when one role or hero can change or restructure the meta.
Sojourne prenerf is a good example of that
This comment comes off as pretty black and white when I think the answer lies somewhere in the middle.
It can be really awkward logging in and the playstyle you favored is hard countered by a new hero.
Or that your main has been reworked
Or that a new tank has switched the meta from poke to brawl .
I think this stuff does factor in to what you as a player should be focusing on in any given game, and keeping up with it can be important to understanding your role.
I've played this game for 4k hours...
And I'm Diamond.
Why do people always assume the dumbest things.
Thanks for the long pointless message.
