Bad reviews, and yet...
Like everyone else we can see how the game reviews are... well bad.

But what caught my attention was this.

26,438 In-Game

So if the game is so bad.. then why are tens of thousands playing it daily?

Are you really asking this question...

Well yeah.. I have never played overwatch 1 or 2.. (not my preferred genre of gaming) but I have been on steam for many years and this is the first time I see a game so disliked, yet played by thousands.

why?
If its so terrible. then why are so many playing it?

by design the game is amazing. its just being ruined by poor decision making. rating the game as a whole its a solid 8-9/10. rating how its being maintained thats about a 2. the negativity is being aimed at the devs.

Its called review bombing because people hate Blizzard/Activision, but the game is very good, the first game from blizzard to be in steam, so.. the game gets all the hate.
Also only a small % of players are on steam, the majority plays on Battle net,

26k is an average game population. Skyrim has been around the same for 10 years.

Overwatch used to be the biggest fps on the market when it was fresh. Just look at any of the most popular fps right now, and you'll see how niche OW2 is by comparison.

I know what you mean about skyrim. I have some 1000 hours on that one due to mods. And your right 20k average for a decade.

But when I saw only 10% like this. I was like.. wow... the game must really be bad. So I was surprised by the amount playing it.

But from what I read above, this is more of a community statement towards developers.

Is it because its on a free to play format? as in. pay to win?

Because it used to be a great game. It had a fan base of millions of players and was literally genre-defining, while having an extensive lore background and basically endless potential.

Having around 20k players puts it at place 60 of the currently most played titles. That's an absolutely terrible number for Overwatch. The reviews are the genuine response of the playerbase, which hasn't been able to voice it's opion so far because Blizzard applies censorship everywhere it can. The game will probably be dead in year or so, unless Blizzard completely reverses course.

It's a mainstream game, by a AAA global company.

26,438 is literally nothing lmfao, this game used to have hundreds of thousands daily players. This is literally close to none.
I mean... is that meant to be impressive?

This game hasnt been relevant since they stopped updating OW1. And even with the initial hype... this game hasnt been recommended to me at all aside from videos bashing on it at most (with the occasional Frogger vid maybe, if Youtube is feeing it that day). This game is done. Accept it. Trust me, it makes the pain easier to handle.

its called addiction. blizzard game enjoyers/players have been like this forever. we will complain about something, and continue to play it because we're addicted

also, complaining about the game, wanting for it to improve, does not mean you hate a game.

not addicted. I took a year and half off before it hit steam. Just tried it again because it went on steam. Game is still garbage. Hard counter (rock paper scissor) balancing issues have been present since the start thats why they kept tweaking heroes. Never had this issue with tf2.

About the numbers...those fraudsters at blizzard padded the view #'s on twitch and in game. Who is to say they are not doing it still to pad steam charts? I don't believe the #'s since I am seeing the same people over and over in matches. Game is on life support and rightly so.

they are not smart enough to play better games?

A large active playerbase doesn't mean much its unhealthy...

In the case of ow, the audience the game is built for, and the one it attempts to pander to are not the same audience..

Look at all the compaints regarding matchmaking, while the system is fundamentally bad, why is it getting progressively worse with time? Blizzard isnt constantly tweaking it, in fact they claim it to be fine..

So if it's not a "bug" and the player count isn't declining, what's causing the issue?

The only other explanation would be the playerbase is degenerating.

In simple terms the playerbase as a whole is getting worse at the game with time, as a result matchmaking is forced to make undeniably onesided matches in order to maintain win rate thresholds,

26k is pretty small for a blizzard game, especially ones from pre-scandal blizzard. If it was the heyday of blizzard they'd break past the hundred thousand for concurrent players
