SERIOUS QUESTION about player count dropping
Last week I noticed that it was around 27-30k. This week 17-18k. As of this moment it is 14.5k.

How do you guys feel about that?

To me it seems that this dying player base is the reason why it came to steam, in hopes that the steam users would rejuvenate it.

Game is still very alive and healthy. I personally just loaded $100 into my account to buy some skins. Cope.

The steam numbers are not a good representation of the player base. Majority of the players are on battle.net. This game is far from dead. It is only dead on the steam platform. The game came to steam not to save itself, but to make more money.

calling a game "dead" because it has 20k players on one platform while other games that are only avaliable on steam like smite has less than that and are not being called "dead" is kinda weird to me... seems like every week people tries to mock OW while not acknowledging other games... last week the "joke" was "HoloCure has more concurrent players" and here we are.

That's good to hear.
They make it pretty obvious in-game who's using the battle.net version and who's using the steam version. Out of my friends on battle.net, only like 1 or 2 of them are ever playing using the Steam version.

In random patches as well, I'll open the P menu which shows the steam icon next to anyone using this version, and many times I'm the only person using the Steam version. Other times there's maybe 1-2 other people max.... so from this random assortment of people I've seen in matches, the amount of players on PC using the Steam version is a small fraction.

It's a holiday weekend in the states, big amount of people are camping and doing other various outdoor things. After this weekend most outdoor stuff starts shutting down for the year or the available activities change. Last weekend for most public pools for example. To me it absolutely makes sense that the amount of people in game has dropped for just about any game.

It's not because you paid for the game that it makes it alive and healthy. I can tell you it's all the opposite.

this is such a far reaching cope excuse lmao. games like apex/fortnite still got the usual numbers. OW2 killed overwatch

And sadly, Fortnite battle royal killed Fortnite...

Must be sad, supporting breast milk stealing developers and then bragging about it while being wrong...

Look at that...less than 300k in total from the 1.6 million this game was back in overwatch 1.

If the statistics concerning Steam reviews (purchase type) is correct then all of the Overwatch 2 players who reviewed the game came from battle.net except for ~70 people.

I'm one of those. And I even bought, played, and loved Overwatch 1.

Well most of the fan base are in battle net so i dont think the game will die sooner or later. Also you havent consider players from xbox, ps, and switch

Even if steam is not a full representation of the playerbase the fact it's bleeding players nonstop is pretty telling of the overall state of the game. the other platforms probably look the same with player numbers bleeding daily. people who think the game isn't dying are coping hard.
