SMS verification?

It seems they just enabled it for some people.

If it is they should remove all the reviews that don't have a legit SMS verification and steam should require SMS to even post a review it would remove a ton of garbage meme reviews from not just OW2 but all of steam

Some of the negative reviews are legitimate and make good points, however they usually refer to things that happened in the past rather than a current state of the game.

The vast majority of them are complete nonsense posted from accounts with essentially zero playtime.

Chinese NetEase servers for this game shut down at the start of the year, they can play through steam/bnet but they won't have any of their items from the NetEase servers. So they basically lost like 7 years worth of skins/items.

that would never work for the same reason sms verification is a terrible idea. Its trivial to spoof numbers (entirely defeating its main selling point), tons of people use phone services that are not valid due to how those services work (more often for more affordable services), it makes it so that people in regions that say have oppressive governments are locked out of game services.

Because, like door locks, they only keep out honest crooks...SMS protection is the least expensive and laziest implementation of protection out there.

I like my door locks.

I stand by it. If steam were to implement sms to stop fake reviews then I would cheer them on.

I’d be fine with them requiring more info on people so they can’t make multiple accounts and cause trouble.

I’m all for more locks on my doors don’t want the locks? That’s fine too, it should just be required for posting reviews and maybe talking on the forums.
