Why are people so angry at this game?

It's just a funny cartoon shooting game with LGBT characters. I genuinely don't understand how you could get this upset over a video game.

Edit: Wow, people really are trying to find reasons to hate this game, while trying to hide their bigotry.

I'm mostly angry at the awful monetization. Some skins cost as much or more than excellent indie games that could last you for 40 hours (or thousands of hours in the case of Terraria) and the fact that in a game where counter-picking is so important you need to unlock characters in a battle pass is just ridiculous.
The game itself is just ok. The characters are ok, the shooting is ok, the abilities are ok... just not good enough to look past all the awful stuff surrounding the actual game.

personally because of hidden ranking system that will ensure you stay at hidden rank and throw away your mouse and keyboard into your monitor because how desperate match fixing was when game decide you must lose.
And initial scam with "placement matches" where they asked to to play in quick play to learn the game and you getting F'd because its was the real placement.

And if you somehow decide to ignore all that disgusting nonsense the game itself is just bad actually it has never been worse not to mention Overwatch "2" in itself is a marketing scam they were supposed to make a PVE mode and then canceled it that was the entire justification for the "2" this is like if Valve made Team Fortress 3 and the entire thing is the same game with 3 new weapons the fact they are bringing it to steam shows how desperate they are and how dead the game is they are trying to milk it for it's last drops of money before abandoning it like they did with Heroes of the Storm and Starcraft

Look at the number. It says 2. This is a copy paste of the 1st one. No PvE that was promised - yet they took people's money. And with Blizzard that is just the very tip of the iceberg. I was a fan of blizzard for a decade. They have fallen so low that they should be happy we even look their way at this point. If you don't know why you must've been living under a rock for the past 3 years. The game isn't funny. Nobody cares what rainbow BS the characters represent. Blizzard represents the worst that the gaming industry has turned into.

People aren't angry at the game, they're angry at the tactics of the company developing it, most notably the rugpull that was Overwatch """2"""

Like I didn't get scammed so it's just funny to me, watching how many times Blizzard can get people to pay for the same game. But it's not difficult to see how scummy that is or why people are upset about it. Not to mention everything Blizzard has done outside this game. They're really just a garbage company, which on its own wouldn't be so bad, but they're wearing the skin of the old, talented, in-touch-with-fans Blizzard and that makes it easier to deceive everyone.

There have been worse scams on Steam, just see every single game released as early access and you have a scam, 100% of the time. The reaction to blizzard is deserved, but is not related to the game rly. But also blizzard doesn't need players defending them, probably this place will be closed or heavy modded in the future, so enjoy the circlejerk while it last ??

Lastly, i'm just waiting for SC2 to be moved to play commander mode with friends w/o using the Blizzard launcher, and oh boy how the ♥♥♥♥ will hit the fan when they move Diablo and WoW and the fight for the ARPG and MMORPG niche scalates to a total war. Will PoE stop with the Nerf-pocalipse that's every patch ?? Steam MMOs will stop being ♥♥♥♥ just because they have been protected by the platform itself ?? (Not FF, they're doing nice)

Ok, here's a little story.
There was a little craft ice cream shop that you went to as a child. The people were making and selling their own ice cream, and you went there every day during summer, because it was delicious. But the ice cream shop was bought up by a bigger competitor. Some of the original workers left, some remained and embraced lower quality ingredients at higher price, assuming that their ice cream brand name would carry them. And for a while it did. But the product started getting worse and worse. At some point they replaced the wafer cones with inedible plastic cups with a rainbow motif and called everyone complaining about the cups homophobic. And people started noticing that some of the female cashiers have bruises barely hidden under heavy make-up.
At some point there was no ice cream, it was frozen feces and they advertise it as chocolate. Some people pointed out that it's not chocolate, but the shop owner just insulted them for being homophobic.
So the customers snapped. And the shop started losing money.
And now the ice cream shop moved into a big mall rather than retain their small location, but they're already known for their overpriced frozen feces in a rainbow cup. And yet some people still claim that people hating them mainly have a problem with the rainbow cup.
Wouldn't you be angry if your favourite ice cream parlor from your childhood transformed this way?
