It's just chaos with a pretty skin over it.
If you find a game "boring" because you dont have lootboxes to get "prices" I think you have a bigger problem that the fact that a skin cost now 20USD
Now...they are going back and forth buffing and nerfing heroes...they are repeating the same thing and AAA companies should not be getting away with this.
Yes, the developers themselves put in hard work but the game is BORING. I tried to get back into it and just can't. It's unfortunate.
The playerbase is in a state of perpetual degeneration.. which is causing the systems blizzard uses to pander to them to become progressively more dysfunctional with time.
Eventually the state of the playerbase will get so bad, the dysfunction will become non-function (the Tf2 matchmaking is a great example this).
Once that point is reached, the game will begin to die extremely rapidly.
Blizzard could easily stop this, but wont as they refuse to make the sacrifice needed to stop it.. as that sacrifice is profitably..
The steam release is a pretty clear indication of their refusal to make the proper sacrifices..
As they could of addressed these issues, and lost profitably comparable to what they are paying valve, to ensure the game has a long life where it would continue to make money with time..
Instead, the have chosen to pursue profitably over playerbase health, in a attempt to get huge short term paydays, but also condemning any potential of the having a healthy long term life.
Compare an earlier map (ex : Road 66) to a modern one. The New York map is LITTERED with junk that you bump on. Street signs, lampposts, cars, etc... clearly it was done with looks in mind instead of gameplay.
That's Overwatch now : they make bad maps.
Nah OW 1 had some bad map designs.. hanamura and volskyia being good examples..
It's not something new to ow2..
The game mode that occurs in these maps, 2CP, is indeed boring. But the map themselves, I mean physically, there is no clutter on the ground, you don't get snagged up around corners, etc... Visually too, it's less busy, more readable. They were awful maps for gameppay, but traversal was not as annoying as New York. You can't see ♥♥♥♥ on screen because the graphical fluff makes the scenes too busy.
