The idea was great, the execution was slightly less so. VHS style horror games are a tried and true concept bringing its own atmosphere for the player. Unfortunately you really lose the "creepy" nature of the game within a couple minutes of what felt like mindless walking. When the player reaches check points to "bring you back" to the main story, it's abrupt and kills whatever was left of the atmosphere. The movement of the camera and flashlight were abnormally slow which makes it hard to know what jumpscare is happening and where because it takes a couple seconds to find where to look. The VHS display is a solid 7/10 where it looked a bit too grain-y and makes looking into the woods or trying to look past the immediate 3ft in front of you next to impossible. I did play in a dark room expecting that the VHS would have a couple quirks for it, and sadly it didn't do much. FOR WHAT IT IS, it's a quick play and has a classic horror vibe (even if it is for brief moments).

Great pixel art and retro vhs design.

Great game. I like these VHS-style horrors, especially when the location is in a forest or an abandoned building. The subtlety of the horror makes the game even creepier. I usually prefer more paranormal horrors, but this one did a good job.
