'Worker Threads' option in settings. What is it?
What is this option exactly? I don't remember this last time i played it.
It has two modes, 1 and 2.
If i put it in 2, the color changes to red.

Wondering what is this thing. I have been searching in the forum and even in google, but nothing about it.

Some kind of hyperthreading option? Not sure, never seen it worded like that if that is the case.

Thanks for your time.
I just found this in the changelog post.

Performance Changes:

·Added option to set max amount of CPU cores in launcher. This is a fallback for users that experience issues with CPU overheating/overload. Do not change this value unless you are experiencing overheating/overload issues!

I will try both options, and see the temperatures and what's the difference between both, and also why is so "dangerous" to use it.

Have a nice day :)

It'd be nice if one of the devs can tell us what it does exactly. Do the number 1 and 2 refer to actual number of worker threads or do they denote modes 1 and 2?

Number of worker threads running would be the most obvious answer

Any official info?

This is exactly what it is, simply how many threads the game is allowed to use. It allows you to limit how many of your PC's logical processors the game will attempt to utilize, because for some people's systems and especially on laptops, trying to use them all creates too much thermal load and can overheat the CPU.

Mine is at 9 of 12 by default on an i7 5820k (Hexcore). A dual core (or single core with HT) will only show 2 available worker threads.

Funny enough, my Hexcore only shows up to 10. (4960X) Wish I could turn it up to 12.

Well, upping the number actually made the game run smoothly. WTH wished I would had known this earlier.

Hey there!

I have an i5-4460 (4 threads) and it only allows me to choose up to 2, and by choosing 2, it turns red. Is this how it is supposed to work?
Hiro Jan 6, 2016 @ 5:26am
Yea many people have the same "issue". Quad cores getting only 2 threads. I have I5-4670k also 2. Straaaaange.
Zorder Jan 6, 2016 @ 5:44am
Could it be related to hyperthreading? I've seen people with i7's saying they can increase the amount of threads but I don't think I've seen anyone who has been able to do it with an i5.

Bump! (devs?)

Need an answer for this, specifically the case where i5 (4 threads) only get to select max 2, as opposed to 4.

This game is in dire need of increased optimalization for CPUs. My i5 4690k @4.5GHz is almost always maxed at all cores, bottlenecking my performance.
Decreasing the number of worker threads will reduce the impact on your CPU. This is useful if you are running other CPU-intensive software such as streaming programs or if you're having trouble with CPU overheating.

Typically you'll want to leave this at the default setting for ideal performance.

I think there is a way to force the 4 cores of your CPU. If you go to Appdata/Roaming/Fatshark/Vermintide and open the user config file and then look for "max_worker_threads = 2" and change it accordingly.

I tested this with 3 and 4 (i5 4460) and even though the game still drops frames during waves, the overall framerate is more stable.

Thank you for your response. Also, thanks LiVam.

I increased it from 1 to 2 and experienced a much more stable frame rate. I usually have it capped at 60FPS since my 290X completly takes over the room if it's always working at max. Before, when I had it set to 1 my fps would drop all the time, now, at 2 it's almost always stable at 60FPS.

Will try to increase it via editing that line from 2 to 3,4. Thanks!
