Stop paying money to youtubers and spend the money fixing the game first.
Sick of seeing you throw money at youtubers to cover your game when it has serious issues, it's not even working since your average player numbers before throwing money at these people is the same as before you did it.

Hey! Stop doing something I have assumed you do based on nothing and instead do this other thing I assumed based on nothing that you don't do! Screw you!

I don't think it's a good idea listening to a review from a big youtuber anyway. It's not that i am calling angryjoe a sellout..but..y'know. Anyone that can directly benefit from a good review probably will. Stick to smaller ones.

He's probably talking about Angry Joe show. He did a video of it as a "promotional video."

Ew.
He should change the name to the financially placated Joe show.
Any "reviewer" who does a puff piece is instantly no longer a reviewer.

Isn't it the sort of game he would have covered on his channel anyway? Accepting money from the devs isn't a smart thing to be doing. He'll be making a hell of a lot of money from his channel as it is.

There's this thing called 'marketing'

Its used so that people will know about your game and buy it

I realize this might be a difficult concept to understand

Also please feel free to show me the module where you 'feed money' into it and magically bugs get fixed. I'd love to have that. Just throw money at the screen and bugs get fixed according to you!

Yes, of course.
My issue is with Angry Joe for accepting the money.
He's done himself no favours. Nobody will take him seriously as a reviewer.

He opens the vidoe with a disclaimer that its a promo video from the developers

I dont' see the issue as long as the disclosure is there

If you dont like him taking money that's your perogative. But people don't live off of good will and unicorn blood. Angry Joe has to make money just like FatShark do. If promo videos are a way Angry Joe does it, then so be it. As long as the videos are clear that they are promos.

And regardless with however you feel about promo videos, going bakc to the OP, its not like if FatShark didn't pay Angry Joe, that magically 100 additional bugs would be fixed in 1.0.2 by paying off the "Bug Fix Mafia Oracle". Money doesn't solve bugs.

He'd been streaming the game on twitch. I'm assuming this promotional video is replacing the honest review that he was planning on doing on his channel. You don't have an issue with that?

His channel gets lots of views, he'll be making a shed-load of cash from youtube advertising revenue alone. Then there are the donations and merchandise - http://angryjoeshow.com/angry-joe-store/

It's up to him if he accepts money in return for positive coverage on his channel, I'm just saying, you can't put a price on integrity. I imagine he'll lose a lot of subscribers, doing things like this.

I'm not seeing the issue

1) You're making an assumption that it's supplanting a review. An assumption based on what?
2) You already don't think his reviews are worthwhile anyway

Ergo what is the problem?

His channel gets lots of views, he'll be making a shed-load of cash from youtube advertising revenue alone. Then there are the donations and merchandise - http://angryjoeshow.com/angry-joe-store/

And the entire point of marketing is to you know get your game infront of a bunch of eyeballs. And youtubers are one way of doing so. Just because he makes money other ways doesn't mean he shouldn't make money in other ways. Its a business. Not a charity.

It's up to him if he accepts money in return for positive coverage on his channel, I'm just saying, you can't put a price on integrity. I imagine he'll lose a lot of subscribers, doing things like this.

Look at his subscriber numbers and tell me if its 'dropping'. You might be shocked that it isnt.

Angry Joe won't lose subs from intentional positive reviews. He'll lose subs cause he hasn't made any angry reviews lately as seen from the comments on his Vermintide video. That's all the Angry Joe community wants: angry reviews.

There is certain difference between completely open "Hello, please take a look at our game." and secretive "Hey, 10/10, okay?" *slips money under the table*.
But of course someone who made their mind up beforehand about the game/reviewer would not see any.

Advertise your product to get extra revenue.

That extra revenue is used to fix and create content.

i doubt the game will ever run incredibly well on any computer, it has a lot to render with hordes and the fast paced gameplay. It's probably beyond just optimization, not saying that further optimization wouldn't help

The game runs well on my computer. The only time I get stutter or any framerate issues is if there's a massive horde AND I'm standing in poison gas. Other than that, no issues at all.

You clearly have no idea how advertising works. The point is to make more money so they can afford to make these magical fixes.
