BSOD?
Been getting BSOD while playing the game. It's not during any combat or there's no large amount of enemies on my screen when it happens. My computer is more than capable of running this game on max settings. This problem only occurs to me when playing this game. Any advice ? Already went through support and was told to just google my problem. Sadly I can't find an answer.

you should write down the BSOD and decode the error message.

it will have numbers that give you a good idea of what your problem might be.

it's highly possible that this game is taxing something like your gpu to the point of it crashing the system from a variety of things, even demanding too much power.
could be faulty ram that was never used before, but the error code is your best bet.

in windows settings you can change windows to not automatically restart upon BSOD.
makes it easy to note the code down.

good luck

Only Thing that comes up is WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR and i've done a few fixes but nothing seems to work. Checking if anyone has had the same problem and have resolved it.

There should also be a minidump you can view that will give you information on the crash.

Look it up on Google, also post this on the bug reports side of the forums. It has something to do with your hardware configuration, you should also make sure you have the latest drivers. (Most likely hard drive issue.)

BSOD may have something to do with your virtual memory settings in Windows.

I've had similar issues with Thief (the new one) where if I set my virtual memory to automatic (Windows sets it) it would give me BSODs at set moments in the game, and quite frequently too. When I disabled it entirely (not recommended for most systems) or set it manually to 15-20GB, I had no issues with it anymore.

Perhaps your issue is something similar, but a BSOD can occur from an extremely long list of things, so it's a long shot.

Edit: Just in case you don't know what virtual memory does. It exists as a buffer for your actual memory (RAM) and exists as a "page file" on your hard drive. The size of this is by default handled by Windows and depends on the efficiency and capacity of your RAM, and the software running.

Note: If you have an SSD, placing the pagefile on the SSD makes use of its much greater read and write speeds, but will reduce the lifespan of your SSD slightly as it is constantly being written to. It is not recommended.

BSOD's are a computer / hardware problem, not neccesarilly caused by this game exclusively.

But just to be clear on things doesn't mean we can't help you.

Mostly BSOD's are because of faulty hardware due to overheating and / or overuse.
if the BSOD's happen exclusively during game / video (youtube / media players etc.) things its most definitely your videocard.

If the BSOD's happen at ANY given moment, even if you're afk and get back to a restarded computer then it's a CPU problem.

If the BSOD's happen with ONLY games (and not video related things) it's most definitely your RAM.

Try switching them out with something older / buying something new.

Now BSOD's don't always have to be hardware problems as described above (they mostly are though) They can be caused by drivers not doing what they're supposed to do.

Drivers can call functions on the hardware device it doesn't recognise and will not return the propper response of what it wants, so instead of saying "tough luck computer" the computer just completely freaks the ♥♥♥♥ out and throws a BSOD on screen.

Your best bet is to use a program called Combo Fix, coupled with a registry cleanup (of whatever favourite program you prefer) at first.

If that doesn't fix your problem you should uninstall most drivers and download the latest ones (there's programs for NVIDIA and AMD videocards to remove drivers) or try driver sweeper which is a program that allows you to do this (warning, you can do more harm than good with this thing, be careful).

Look up the make and name of your motherboard (box, or on the motherboard itself) type that into google with the word "Drivers" behind it. Download and install the chipset / bios / RAM / network / audio drivers for your motherboard.

Other than this info all i can wish you is good luck, BSOD's are a pain in the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ass to deal with.

Had one of these myself. Horn of Mag map right before sounding the horn itself. All 4 of us was just walking up the steps without any fighting and I got a BSOD saying something was trying to change important files.

Hope this isn't a normal thing as the game runs butter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ smooth without any hint of a problem on my PC that I can see.

Hello,

Juste to help, if i can: i had been keeping bsod for many years with différent games. I have a NVIDIA TI 560 1go as a GPU. I have updated thousands of firmware, BIOS, reconnected the hardware etc...
I suspected particules, asking too many power. Orks must die, chivalry, skyrim... From time to time, with à low graphic configuration it was better, but still i had à magnificent yellow, blue, grey, monochrom with noise, and only à reset to do.
On vermintides, it was like after 5 minutes of game or ten maximum.

My solution, worked and after 10hours of game it is cool.
Download something like MSI afterburner, or any overclocking software.
Underclock your GPU. Do not put at the maximum the graphics and the resolution. Et voilà...

I was able to play with 1700 as a résolution, and grapics at intermediary lvl. I set the GPU at 750 instead of 850 or 900, and the click at 1850 instead of 2000.

That may be possible to optimise it i guess, but i feel confortable like that. At high lvl of graphics and 1900, it was à bit slow, and with à bit less downclocking i had à crash.

I hope it may help. Enjoy and burn rats!
