PROBLEM - "Locked. Visit forge to unlock traits"

I got a new item, but it says that
What am I supposed to do at the forge to get it's special effect?

You need to place unequiped loot with the trait in the secend slot of the forge
( forge have 3 slots one for crafting higher tier equipment one for upgraiding and last one is for disembling, btw. sorry for bad english lol)
and use the material to upgrade it to unlock that trait hope it helped to understand.

you can also just hit F to access the forge at the inn.

don't need to walk up to it.
