There reasoning was the sheer number of Beta's I had been in would be enough experience that I should know or be able to tell if a game is good or has potential.
Pros:
1. Great art style
2. Lighting is nice, day and morning for a change
Cons:
1. Last Stand is very boring and repetetive
2. Rewards are not worth it for experienced players
3. Makes it even harder to find a cata game
What is that lazy spam?
Game was enjoyable because it wasn't a horde spam game but that is now what it is turning into.
First we had to get everyone unlocked up to Heroic, and the two difficulties below heroic were so mind numbingly boring we literally had a couple of us going AFK at a time. It took something like 45 minutes for each of the two maps, and we had to do it twice because a buddy got on late. That was bad. It was like 3 hours of utter boredom or something. Whatever though, that's a one time thing, out of the way.
It got a lot more fun starting at Heroic. Still easy enough that three of us were able to get to wave 20something, but challenging enough that we actually had to make calls to do it. The problem is though, the early waves are still a complete joke. Like the first 10-12 are virtually freebies, and that takes like 20 minutes. Even on Heroic, the first 20 minutes are really tedius. You have to play them again every time you start over. With three it wasn't great, with a fourth the boring period would have been even longer.
Now my crew are pretty decent players, I understand some people will struggle with lower difficulties. A handful of people may look at our progress and think we're bad relatively speaking. Either way though, you're probably going to run in to the same issue that I do. There will be content you can consistently beat that you have to tediusly slog through to reach the point where you have a challenge. Then when you reach that point, you'll fail in some window of time. Then you have to start the whole process over. The better you are, the worse this issue is, but it's an issue for all except people who are just struggling with the opening waves of whatever difficulty.
There are things they could do to make it less boring.
They could allow us to combine two waves at a time up until the highest wave the host has reached, for instance. Alternatively they could add something as simple as a vote to skip the downtime between waves if we're healthy and just want to plow through 3 in a row without going for supplies. I don't really care what they do, but I'd like them to do something because as it stands I doubt I'll be playing much Last Stand.
I think is a DLC so small, nothing special. Diablo 3 have big patchs free with x20 content. Is a patch, no DLC and we have to pay. I dont undertand this.
This game have a huge potential, but i dont see good future with this small patches.
Blizzard started small too, also their first great success were warcraft 3, which they still support. A small team means nothing, even one guy can create a game and be more successfull than Fatshark will ever be. Their support is pathetic, proofed by their last games and the amount of players they lost already a few days after release. The fact that guys here still praise below average work, is the reason why so many games today are just pure garbage.
I'm sorry Blizzard started with Warcraft 1 and Starcraft and Diablo with a team of 20, by Warcraft 3 they had a team of over 300, just working on the game. Fatshark has 50 employees total, that means not just devs but their entire staff. That is first.
Second, Fatshark has nailed and enhanced their 6-8 seconds of fun and make it repeat itself in 100x different ways, albeit slight differences then added varying degrees of challenge.
Is it perfect no, no game is, however, it is fun and this is not below average work, you want to see below average work? Go take a look at my reviews of Prospekt, of ET Armies, of Onion Force, or Life in Bunker. (Yes there is no A in that title). The fact is they have managed to make one of the better Warhammer Themed games to date, the only good horde game we have had since Left4Dead 2 and their support isn't pathetic considering the number of patches that have been out. You just haven't been paying attention.
