Borderless Fullscreen Mode increases Performance
Hey I just wanted to post this here because I am very confused right now. Switching to Borderless Fullscreen has increased my FPS by over 60%.

My system:
i5-4690
R9 390 factory-OC
Game running on HDD

My Graphics Settings are maxed out and I am playing on 1080p resolution. Usually when I was playing i had 55-60fps in the lobby and levels were running generally at 50-60fps except for some badly optimized places where it drops to as low as 25fps. Since Alt-Tabbing out of the game causes strange scaling issues with the game (tabbing back to the game: 1080p resolution with 5:4 ratio only fixed by reapplying resolution settings) I decided to use Borderless Fullscreen. Now I am running at steady 90FPS (which is my fps cap which i enforce to reduce power consumption of my graphics card) ALL THE TIME. I don't see an obvious decrease in visual fidelity at all and all settings are still maxed out.

I might do some further tests but for now I am going to sleep because it's late so I might aswell post this here already. I am reluctant to post this as bug report because I didn't really put the effort in to make this a bug report and generally don't know if it is a bug at all. Might be some weird technical glitch or something.

I might do some comparison Screenshots tomorrow to see if somehow my settings secretly changed but i doubt it.

Any ideas?

After testing around for a bit I found out what the problem was. After disabling Frame Rate Target Control in the driver settings I now have the high performance I experienced with borderless fullscreen. For some reason FRTC messed around with my performance big time, but didn't work with borderless fullscreen for some reason. I now have 110-180FPS in the lobby. Using the FrameCap option of the game doesn't seem to cause any issues, so i am using that now.

Fullscreen always gives me the best performance.

I put my framerate cap to 120 as this is enough imo. Also framerate cap because GPU and CPU percentages goes off uncontrollable when FPS goes up to about 200.

Yeah, i really don't like uncapped framerates at all because I have a 60hz monitor and capping my framerate saves like 100W and 10° GPU temp. Vermintide starts lagging when the fps go lower than 90 for some reason but my graphics card can handle it. At the moment I don't really see a difference in performance between Fullscreen and Borderless but Borderless fixes the scaling issue this game has (my gf has the same issues on her gtx570 btw so it's not an amd issue).

Another thing is that the steam overlay doesn't work in Borderless.

If you have a 60hz screen, try putting v-sync on. This works great on my gfs laptop and removes alot of tearing.

With my 144hz screen I turn v-sync off and framerate cap on 120 as I said and it works great on my computer. I think the settings between different computers are really individual and it takes alot of try and error before you get it optimized for your PC (as in all games).
