If you dont want to aim and use an op weapon tureflight is an option too.
for meele: sword and dagger are good or the glaive.
But you can kill your teammates with almost any ranged weapon.
Friend of mine managed to kill 2 of our allies with his handgun and a str pot in.
We fought an ogre on hom on the roofs. Used his handgun just when BOTH out allies perfectly lined up and moved in his target. Hilarious moment.
Dual daggers take some practice but can be effective against tougher enemies, also can run and block.
Glaive is amazing on missions where you have to break chains or pillars. It kills every rat minus ogre in one hit, but you really need to know the swing pattern and how to dodge or you will get hit a lot.
For experienced players I'd say Sword & Dagger and Hagsbane.
Hagsbane is hands down the best weapon for killing Ogres right now but you won't be able to assist your teammates in killing specials quite as much, especially if they constantly charge them and try to shield bash them to death for 5 minutes and won't give you line of sight.
Trueflight is inconsistent at hitting the target you actually want to hit but you can spray charged left clicks without aiming whatsoever and still kill a lot of specials. Horrible for ogre though.
Dual Swords don't require any particular finese to handle as you can pretty much left click spam and use them effectively.
Sword & Dags do more damage but the attack animation is a bit more tricky to get used to and simply spamming left click is not an effective way to use them.
I've also heard Glaive is pretty OP but it only drops on the DLC maps and 2/3 of them are awful for grinding loot.
Source: Several hundreds hours game time as Elf on Nightmare/Cata.
It also deals massive AoE when using charged attacks which makes it phenomenal at clearing large amounts of trash. If you have the scavenger trait and shoot only charged attacks into large groups of rats then you effectively have infinite ammo. I've run Last Stand before for 30+ minutes on a single clip of Ammunition Holder/Scavenger Hagsbane without ever replenshing my ammo. If you also run Regrowth then it also has a far greater potential for raw healing output than the Trueflight or Longbow.
TLDR if you have Ammo Holder, Scavenger and Regrowth you have infinite ammo and infinite health. Not to mention you can solo Ogre on cata without a Strength Potion as long as you have full ammo (45 with ammo holder).
Traits:
Hail of Doom + scavenger \ Bloodlust \ Mastercrafted + ammunition holder.
Hail of Doom + scavenger \ Bloodlust \ Mastercrafted + ammunition holder.
Traits:
Devastating blow + something that boosts stamina + something.
Killing blow + Backstab + something
Traits:
Devastating blow + something that boosts stamina + something.
(ofcourse no regrowth or swiftslaying because slow "single target weapon")
Short bow - barely scratches enemies on nightmare and Cata.
Killing blow can make Double \ single sword viable.
Sword+ dagger is a strange mix and IDK much about it.
Glaive or Dagger/Sword
Dagger/Sword has great crowd control and crowd killing (just don't stand still). Takes out a bunch of ratties at a time.
Glaive doesn't take out many ratties (hordes) but can still keep them back enough if you use block once in a while. Damage is great and with an orange or above you can one hit clan rats.
Dagger/Sword, Glaive and Trueflight are also all very good at anti stormvermins.
None really exceed at ogre killing however.
