But for me it would be a shame.
Because Vermintide 1 is still really awesome, and you'd miss that.
Coming from V2 to V1 will be a bit hard too since there is almost nothing in V1 that is not in V2, and V2 added lots of new stuff (weapons, ennemies, bosses)
All V1 characters, weapons and ennemies are in V2.
But the gameplay itself is not THAT different in V2, they just bringed more weapons and ennemies.
There are also carreers and talents, but it does not transform the gameplay experience that much imo, it just add specializations and more diversity, and special powers you can use once in a while.
BUT what V1 still has over V2 is really nice unique maps, especially the DLC ones.
I even admit V2 level design disapointed me a bit after playing the DLC of the first game, they came back to something more classical instead of bringing more unique features like they did in the DLC of V1.
V1 has a total of 24 missions (counting the DLC) and a survival mode with 2 maps.
V2 only has 13 maps right now ( 2 new DLC maps coming in april).
Weapons are almost the same (except V2 has more, it just lacks one auto aim bow for the elf, and maybe the auto aim staff for the witch, but I'm not sure) BUT they have unique buffs that are not in V2, making them more unique.
For exemple you have a % chance to have a speed boost for a short period of time, and not consume ammos on your guns and so on.
Some things there is apparently not in V2, but I'm not sure ( I loved my brace of pistols with haste in V1)
V1 is also a finished and polished game contrary to V2 (well it still has bugs, but less than V2).
It finally has a good characters and weapons balance, unlike V2 once again.
Just note that rewards / gear, is harder to get in V1, and it can become too grindy.
V2 has a slightly better system for that.
V2 seems to be a harder game than V1, it ads lots of new strong ennemies.
Many new players of the franchise are complaining that the game is too hard for them (but they just need to understand the mechanics), so I think V1 is an easier start.
So if your not in a hurry, get V1 first.
If you want the better game right now, at the cost of polish and balance problems, and don't mine missing a good amount of cool levels and missions, and you don't mind to start the harder game first, get V2.
But note that you will probably enjoy less coming to V1 after playing V2.
My biggest fear is the "Destiny 2 effect", in that everyone was playing it at launch, and no one is playing it now, just because the first game has more content and is more polished, they all came back to it after the novelty of the sequel started to wear down (even when the second game has a lot of improvements)
Maybe i could get the first game now on sale and wait for the second one when has more/blanced/polished content
With just more weapons, 1 special ability, and new ennemies.
If you did not like V1, you won't like the sequel.

Now, it seems you pay full price for a game, then they add some DLC to that same game (Greed Clone), and force you to pay full price for it again because they named it "2". When all it is really is 1 with some DLC content.
I'm playing V1, I enjoy it and the loot I get there will benefit me when I'm doing higher modes and playing last stand also the stuff I learn from there will help me in the next game which I plan on playing in the near future once everything is has settled and patched. I'll probably jump right into hardmode.
The games are also really cheap at their regular price, and for the 30$ launch price tag of the first game myself and many others managed to put in hundreds and some even thousands of hours, which is more than I can say about most full priced releases these days. If the second game gets the dedicated level of the support the first game got then it's going to be a real treat to get into following the first game. The first game is also only around 7$ right now too for people looking to catch up with it and then move right into the second game!
