Kerillian Lore Questions
So I've been really interested lately in Kerillian's lore, and I hope someone could discuss or flesh out some of the following questions:

Why are her eyes black?

Is she immortal/cursed or is it even explained?

Why is she both hateful and 'caring' towards the characters, it gives a sense of confusion which I guess it's intended but what do you guys think about this?

A line she says which goes kinda like 'I have nowhere else to go', does this hint about her having no friends/home anymore? This kind of gives me the idea that she might have been expelled/forcely exiled from Athel Loren; any thoughts about this?

Thanks in advance for your participation and do please enrich me with your knowledge/theories!

1: we have no idea at all, but there are whites to her eyes. they're just UGUU! anime size pupils.
2: well elves are already immortal, so....
3:elves have an almost overwhelming sense of superiority, so while the might not hate them she's got to assert her elvish pride all the time. there's a reason the dwarfs spent 500 years humbling them in a devastating war.
4:there's more of her backstory on the vermintide site, go give that a read. short version they tossed her out for poking her nose where she shouldn't.

Warhammer elves are sometimes depicted with black eyes. There's nothing special about them.

Actually, they're not immortal per se. The way I understand it all elves have a lifespan ranging from very very long to they never die of old age but the latter is already rare. Additionally, only the woodelf demigod Ariel is actually immortal in the sense of being 'immune' to death by any means (age, desease, physical trauma,...) - no idea about other elf factions though.

Secondly, woodelves are not really the arrogant type (they're isolationist instead). In fact, they despise the high elves for their guardian complex. I have no idea what makes Kerillian tick but I think what comes off as arrogance is a mixture of not giving a flying rat about the fate of other nations / races simply because she prefers to keep to herself and the possibility that shes so old that in comparison a human live is barely even worth noticing. Or let's just say live becomes relative past a certain point... She's probably seen it all and stopped caring long ago.
That would explain the "mayfly" insult, at least, and why she sometimes sounds honestly surprised by her teammate's achievements.

Kerillian is a waywatcher and those are often reclusive even for woodelve terms. Plus what Jakal said. Apparently, she spied on some unspoken spellweaver secret and then was forced into exile.

1.) Black sclera is a feature you see in some (but not all) elves. I believe it's been depicted as occurring across all three major elven civilizations, so it's probably a species thing, not a quirk of the magic they interact with.

2.) Kerillian is cursed somehow, Sienna figures this much out, but Kerillian refuses to elaborate how or why to anyone in various bits of dialogue. From what you can piece together in dialog, Kerillian seems unable to return to Athel Loren, and seems to need to kill a certain number of skaven (killing them actually makes the winds of magic surrounding Kerillian stir, which is what tips Sienna off).

3.) It's just banter. And elves are very prideful, besides. Especially wood elves, and especially wood elves from Athel Loren.

4.) See answer 2. As another person said up-thread, it seems she saw some sort of ritual that was none of her business.

this can also affect the Eldar in the 40K universe as they're pretty much space elves with the normal eldar being the wood elves given that Kerillian talks about being quick and the eldar enjoy fast strikes and the dark eldar can probably relate to the high elves in fantasy

once again, the 40K players must drag their game into it.

Is the most accurate response in this thread so far, beyond the website's "she saw a ritual she wasn't supposed to and has been exiled"

Also yes, Elves don't live forever and are not immortal, but their natural lifespans are so long that they may as well be, compared to mortal races. (Many thousands of years)

I'm just making a comparison as they act the same in there as well.

I don't know much about 40k, but there are Dark Elves in Warhammer who are eternally at war with the High Elves. If the Dark Eredar are at war with the regular Eredar, your translation is probably right there.
Dark Eldar are on largely neutral terms with Craftworld and Exodite Eldar. Recently, actually, they all banded together.

well the Dark Eldar are warring with everything Imperials, Orks, Eldar, pretty much anything that can extend their lifespan as the god they created when the empire fell (all their fault too) drained their souls dry and they fear death (just like the other Eldar cause their dying out due to the event) so they torture and enslave so they can stay alive. Now i know there's differences between the High Elves and the Dark Eldar but there are also simalaries as well between the Lore of Fantasy and the Lore of 40K

this likely depends on the Dark Eldar army some will go to hell and back to ensure they get their share of slaves and spoils of war

Seeing this thread is now more about 40k than vermintide or at least fantasy I understand your frustration.

well the Subforum is called Warhammer Lore Discussion not Warhammer Fantasy Lore Discussion so you shouldn't be surprised if someone talks about 40K.

Last time I checked this thread was about Kerillian and woodelves. Is that 40k?
