Getting started with modding?
So I absolutely love this game, great graphics, cool combat... but the music. How I hate the music.

Not all of it mind you, just the stuff that drops during the intense moments in the game. The linkin park sounding, punk metal or whatever you want to call it.

I would be willing to learn the basics of game modding to be able to replace this music. Can somebody point me in the direction of some modding resources that would apply to MGR?

...Really? First, good luck cracking open the encoded audio. Second, shame on you for even THINKING of ruining the amazing soundtrack, for this amazing game.

My apologies... its just not my type of music at all. I could kill cyborgs to Techno, Drum and Bass, Metal... hell, I'd rather have reggae or classical music playing than some emo sounding punk rock. Bad soundtrack.

I guess I can turn off music/sound and have pandora in the background or something. Psh.

lmao wow

no he is right the music kinda leans towards a very individual audience lol

Well, you pretty much answered your own question. Have some other music playing in the background.

Music for this game is pretty spot on, it gives me hype

I agree, the music is great, but I wouldn't mind a few alternatives, considering the amount of times I've replayed the boss fights and missions! Any word on modding this game?

You do realise it's not even remotely going to be easy to replace said music.

Also the music was created internally by Platinum themselves, ergo you'd have to find some hate for platinum/strange feelings if you didn't like the music.

No. Not all of us like J-rock, and the first thing I did was turn down music all the way and play my own music. I am not a Japanese teen and I do not want to be one, the music is grating to plenty of people so get off of it. The game is still the best of its sort I've ever played, music not withstanding.-

The music wasn't created by a Japanese person, tho.

OP, all you can do is to turn down the music (There's an option menu there for a reason, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.) and use Winamp or other reproductor to hear different music.

This statement here sounds pretty condescending. Idk when it became bad to have any association with Japanese culture (meaning: remotely liking anything they like), but it is getting a little ridiculous :/ You may not have meant for it to sound that way, but that IS how it sounds. As for me personally, I think it fits the game nicely and really like it. I understand that it isn't for everybody (no music is), but that statement sounds like you are afraid to like it because it is Japanese :/

Sorry for all the hate generated by this thread lol, I really just find the dude singing a little distracting is all, and I don't care about J-rock or whatever the music just has a lot of angst. Not what I picture when I think of cyborg murder rampage.

And yeah, I know modding isn't something to be taken lightly, I was just asking for a point in the right direction. I'm not looking for a patch to run or anything like that. I figured a music swap would be a good place to attempt to learn more about the subject.

I agree, the music is extremely "in your face". I feel far too old to be listening to that type of rock so I just disabled it via the options and have my fighting game/hack n slash itunes playlist running in the background. No disrespect to anyone that likes it of course, since taste is subjective.
