Extra protection I would assume

His jaw was already artificial before the start of the game, just skin-colored and natural looking. I guess after the train event they went back to metal for style points.

In Metal Gear Solid 4, Raiden's lower jaw was cybernetic throughout the game but at the end of the story it shows him after he got a more human-looking skin so he could try to live a normal life instead of just being a war machine. After the train event in Metal Gear Rising they likely had him ditch the human facade however so that he could be more like a killing machine again since he lacked the strength to fight the main baddies while trying to play human.

Basiclly, Raiden has mulptile cyborg bodies. The one you see him with in the beginning of the game has him in a body that is more suited for civilian life. They weren't really expecting heavy resistence, so Raiden was pretty much under powered at that time.

So they basiclly gave Raiden a new body which was meant for pure combat.

That eye patch actually has a lot of cameras in it, allowing Raiden to see out of it. It gives him a much wider range of view than normal. The reason for this is because Doktor could not develop an eye unit in time for the mission, but Raiden likes the eyepatch, due to the advantages it gives him.

not a 3-dot camera on start of the game. Next one. Grey cloth. :)

The heels are for latching on to things like his sword and stuff in the environment. They're also used for catching projectiles (like when he fights wolf in the second mission and catches wolf's knife with his foot). If you'll notice, the heel is actually just his foot. He doesn't wear them, they are a part of his body and have a function and don't actually add to his height. It's like if you cut a section out of your foot to have that functionality.

Also, imagine how bloody raiden's jaw would be by the end of the game if it wasn't metal? His jaw recieves so much abuse throughout the game lol.

CONGRADULATIONS!!! for paying attention when Sam cut sensor off his eye which in turn cut his eye making it useless...and believe it or not if you pay attention during the game with the brain cases its a brain with the eyes attached so those are his original eyes...also for the nails hes a cyborg in a pure combat body so claws can be a weapon

Yeah? Try for yourself. :)
For holding the sword Raiden must be constructed with 4 hands like tripod or Mistral. :)

Second mission doctor says something like @we connect it directly to you optical nerve@ and Raiden have a new hand as well. So yeah eye patch extrimly necessary for cyborg.

And with such a nails you cant hold grip properly. And Raiden never used it. It just for show like heels and spikes on shoulders.

all questions "why" regarding this game there is one simple answer:

Codecs explain this. Eyes are very hard to make articifially it seems and they didn't have time to do so. The jaw is also a concession for added protection, as he's a battle cyborg now.

The rule of MGS/R, if you don't get something press Codec. Everything is explained there, there's even nearly 20 minutes of discussions if Mistral's chest is artificial or not with arguments.
