blade mode with keyboard+mouse
right now, im fighting armstrong and thinking about dropping the game... atleast until i get myself a 360 pad.

although blade mode with kb+m works "okay" most of the time i feel that it is almost impossible to reliably do precise cuts with mouse and keyboard (combat in general with kb+m is fine imho). luckily, up until armstrong precise cuts are only needed in the sundowner fight where i just ignored the main fight mechanic by running around the fcker and stabbing him in the back.

if i draw a straight horizontal line with my mouse for example, more often then not jacks swing will be slightly off. adjusting the cut with the mouse and wasd feels clunky and way to slow to cut through the debris armstrong throws at you.

am i doing something wrong, do i need more practice or should i just get a pad for better precision?

Just tried K+M (I'm used to playing this with controllers), and Blade Mode is about the only thing that's more intuitive with mouse than analog stick (which is to be expected, really).

Draw the line of the cut with the mouse, but don't swipe to the other side in order to cut. Just left-click. Your sword swing SHOULD follow exactly on the line.

That said, using the infinite blade mode wig would definitely help. Also Ripper Mode.

But back to the mouse: A potential problem could be a lack of sensitivity? I don't know if you can change mouse sensitivity in the game options, but if you find it slow to adjust the swing, you might want to up that.

I dunno, some things I noticed from a quick playtest. Hope that helps.

you can adjust the mouse sensivity in the menu but the problem is not that the "blade circle" itself moves too slow, it just feels very hard to position it exactly where i want it (an indicator where my cursor is would help?!), therefore i was too slow to cut the debris apart in time. should've worded that better.

after giving the fight a few more tries i realized that i was making this way more complicated than it actually is:

i thought you had to exactly align your cut with the red line, while in fact you only need to cut through all the red boxes, giving you way more leeway than i thought.

i'll probably fiddle around with it some more in ng+, thanks for your reply :)

FYI, you can just ignore the flying block completely. just dash towards armstrong and slide under it and it wont hit you and armstrong is back in the fight.
Downside to this is that you wont get the repair packs from the cut blocks.

Absolutely get a gamepad. Some games (like this one) you just NEED it.
Remember to not do any slash before being sure it'll work
Target only two out of the four squares, it's enough

On Easy/Normal, maybe. One higher difficulties you need to be more accurate.
Hm... The only full run I did was on Hard and it worked okay for me. I though it'd be the same in all difficulties. My bad.

I'm nowhere close to Armstrong in my Revengeance playthrough since it'll take me hours to clear that cursed fight at the beggining of R-04. ;_;
