Has anyone ACTUALLY gotten the "You're Hired" achievement lately?
I've seen videos of it, I've read guides on the internet, but none of it seems to work. Senator Armstrong in the Jetstream Sam DLC seems to be the HARDEST, THING, EVER to beat in terms of getting that IMPOSSIBLE achievement. Seriously, I have tried for over a month now, spending hours on that ONE fight, trying it on different difficulties and still nothing. The closest I've ever gotten is when by some miracle I got him to the checkpoint on the Hard difficulty but died afterwards, causing him to constantly fly at me and try to grab me with his unblockable attacks. I've heard that if you Z-dodge INTO him after the checkpoint then it'll increase his chances of doing an easy-to-dodge attack and of course if you play on Revengeance then if taunted, you'll only have to do like 7 fully charged attacks to win the fight, but still, I need help. If there is ANYONE who has beaten him on PC (not Xbox360 or PS3 or whatever), PLEASE tell me how you did it cos right now, I think it's currently impossible (and no, I am unable to possess Nanomachines so please do not comment telling me to aquire some in order to win the fight).

its not impossible but a bit tough for sure. btw you also need the no damage bonus if you want to get S rank the fight so many of us had to do it on all difficulties :p
its probably the hardest fight indeed. just need to constantly dodge until he does the attack that kind of makes fissures on the floor, that one is slow enough to give you time for a full charged attack. most of the time though you can hit him with normal hits, charged attacks are almost never a good idea except in that case. i did use taunt in revengeance but not sure if its needed on the other difficulties. in hard it shouldnt be much of a problem either.

also not sure if you know this but if he does hit you you can just restart checkpoint so you can basically retry him as long as you want. just DONT die because if you do it saves the game automatically and youre screwed

Use taunt. It's increases your damage.

did I get the achievement lately? No, I got it somewhere around a month or two after the game launched on Steam.

It is absurdly difficult to earn, and I slowly built up muscle memory for three hours to do it. The breakthrough for me was when I started experimenting with the taunt move. It makes Armstrong go insane, but it is also the only way to win without turning the fight into a slog.

Armstrong has this one move where he rushes from one end of the arena to the other with this crazy fire trail behind him, he loops this a few times. This move seems to glitch every so often, and he'd just stay on top of me like a heat seaking, achievement attempt destroying missile. I don't remember any way to predict or prevent that, so keep in mind that Armstrong could just be a jerk right when you almost have him.

I recall the fight also having a checkpoint around halfway, once you get there you only have to do half the fight to kill him. I could be wrong about that though.

I got it on my xbox, didnt do it again here though. If you taunt as soon as the fight begins then dodge the first attack twords him you get enough time to charge a full attack, normally that knocks him on his ass and you can lang 3 or 4 and imidiatly get to the half way point in the fight. then its up to you :P

Done it on Hard and Very Hard. Basically, taunt him straight off, defensive offensive forward, then wait for an opening and hold the Heavy attack button for about 18% damage with the taunt on.

I JUST got to the checkpoint again about half an hour ago, paused the game and literally threw up from stress and cried for 5 to 10 minutes because of all the pressure, went back and hit him with a charged attack once before he hit me and I had to restart. I'm destined to never get this achievement.

why did you quit though? you were at 50%. just restart the checkpoint and keep going. 2nd phase (50%-0%) is a little bit harder i think but if you could manage the first you can probably manage this one
kind of silly to ask but you ARE playing on hard right? just in case maybe youre trying on revengeance or something lol

I tried on Hard, kept getting hit and eventually gave up and let him kill me a bunch of times, letting it save (this was before you pointed out that if you do it after it saves your death, you won't get it so I didn't know, so you see my problem) and are currently playing it on Revengeance cos I can then do more damage. I don't wanna play after the checkpoint cos I tried a few times and he kept charging like 10 times and trying to headbutt me non stop so the only way to do it is flawlessly from start to finish or SOMEHOW beat him after restarting the checkpoint, which I do NOT have the skills to do. So no, I'm not gonna try and beat him for a while but thank you for the encouragement, it means alot to know someone out there thinks I can do it.

oh man if its stressing you so then leave it for another time lol. not worth it
im a bit of a masochist for challenges as well but its probably not healthy lol

and yea i remember its easier to kill him if you dont restart checkpoint for the second phase but its way better than doing the whole thing in one go. by the way in revengeance you deal more damage if hes taunted but im not sure if its easier because he will be a LOT more aggresive as well

i remember playing this fight quite a bit but on revengeance but cant even remember very hard and hard, so whenever you go again id say try hard again and maybe for the second phase dont taunt him (he will be a lot less aggressive this way)

gl :p

Dodge and taunt are your best friends, don't try to block anything. Try to stay in the middle of the arena. I still remember when I did it first time, it was quite frustrating because I had no idea of how to properly fight him and just slashed away like a maniac.

Taunt when he ends his ape rush, dodge his attack when he closes the gap, do a heavy attack, dodge and repeat. If you see him starting his charge when he is close, just dodge backwards so you have time to evade the attack.

Just practice and once you get a hang of how it works it's quite easy and you go from this:

*Was gonna say something like "Do that on PC and I'll have hope.", saw that you had pretty much every MGR achievement (including THAT achievement) and noticed the name of your second video and immediately burst out laughing*. Seriously though, those videos were amazing. Like that first one, DESPITE IT BEING ON A CONSOLE (which I still have a very firm belief, even though it sounds very, very stupid, that the bosses are slightly easier to beat on console but nobody realises it because noone uploads PC videos or plays the PC version anymore) was incredible. Like how you managed to DODGE all of his attacks and I RE~ALLY learnt something at 2:19 that although it might be dangerous to pull off, could still help me win the fight. Not to mention the video alone was so brutal that when you finally reached 0.1% or whatever, it actually felt like it was you fighting him and not Sam. THEN that second video not only gave me HOPE in beating Senator Nanomachines-Son, but it also gave me a really good idea of how to fight him AND you beat them ONE, SECOND faster then this person on YouTube called Miduki Ashino who's been my idol for the past I-dunno-how-long-now for basically made vids of themselves S-ranking the f*** out of anything that moves on Metal Gear Rising. My only objection though is at 1:04 (in your second vid) when you do a charged attack at Armstrong and STUN, HIM. Now correct me if I'm wrong because I've tried multiple times on Revengeance with that exact attack after damaging him and everything and still nothing, but it seems, at least to me, that you can't stun him on PC (if he works for you and everyone else and it's just Armstrong hating me and not working for my game alone, at this rate, I WOULD believe that.) So how would I go from there?

Both of the videos were on PC, I use a controller for this genre of games. My xbox hasn't been plugged in for over a year.

It has been so long since I beat him but if I remember correctly you need 8 combo from the charge attacks to stun him. The safest way is the XXY->Y->Y (X light attack, Y charge). Spin attack has range and you can close in with the standard heavy attack that stuns him and leaves him open for the second charge.

For your current skill level I'd say it is safer to follow the dodge and punish tactic. Keep him taunted at all times for that sweet extra damage.

I was JUST watching your videos again and then I see that you replied. XD I'll try again tommorow. HOPEFULLY I'll get it or at the very least, come close. Thank you for the help BTW.

I GOT IT! I JUST GOT IT! OH MY GOSH I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! I was literally gonna try one last time before giving up for another day then I got to the checkpoint and he did that Fissure attack or whatever, the attack where he punches the ground and causes alot of cracks, so I taunted and did what was done in the "i 2 stronk 4 senator spaghettiarm" video AND WON! I got the achievement and threw up again from happiness, lol. I'D LIKE TO THANK EVERYONE WHO COMMENTED IN THIS DISCUSSION FOR ENCOURAGING ME TO FIGHT HIM EVEN WHEN I FELT LIKE GIVING UP! YOU ARE ALL AWESOME PEOPLE AND I WISH YOU THE ABSOLUTE BEST! :healthvial: :ironfist: :healthvial:
