its probably the hardest fight indeed. just need to constantly dodge until he does the attack that kind of makes fissures on the floor, that one is slow enough to give you time for a full charged attack. most of the time though you can hit him with normal hits, charged attacks are almost never a good idea except in that case. i did use taunt in revengeance but not sure if its needed on the other difficulties. in hard it shouldnt be much of a problem either.
also not sure if you know this but if he does hit you you can just restart checkpoint so you can basically retry him as long as you want. just DONT die because if you do it saves the game automatically and youre screwed
Faith in humanity: Restored .
It is absurdly difficult to earn, and I slowly built up muscle memory for three hours to do it. The breakthrough for me was when I started experimenting with the taunt move. It makes Armstrong go insane, but it is also the only way to win without turning the fight into a slog.
Armstrong has this one move where he rushes from one end of the arena to the other with this crazy fire trail behind him, he loops this a few times. This move seems to glitch every so often, and he'd just stay on top of me like a heat seaking, achievement attempt destroying missile. I don't remember any way to predict or prevent that, so keep in mind that Armstrong could just be a jerk right when you almost have him.
I recall the fight also having a checkpoint around halfway, once you get there you only have to do half the fight to kill him. I could be wrong about that though.
kind of silly to ask but you ARE playing on hard right? just in case maybe youre trying on revengeance or something lol
I tried on Hard, kept getting hit and eventually gave up and let him kill me a bunch of times, letting it save (this was before you pointed out that if you do it after it saves your death, you won't get it so I didn't know, so you see my problem) and are currently playing it on Revengeance cos I can then do more damage. I don't wanna play after the checkpoint cos I tried a few times and he kept charging like 10 times and trying to headbutt me non stop so the only way to do it is flawlessly from start to finish or SOMEHOW beat him after restarting the checkpoint, which I do NOT have the skills to do. So no, I'm not gonna try and beat him for a while but thank you for the encouragement, it means alot to know someone out there thinks I can do it.
im a bit of a masochist for challenges as well but its probably not healthy lol
and yea i remember its easier to kill him if you dont restart checkpoint for the second phase but its way better than doing the whole thing in one go. by the way in revengeance you deal more damage if hes taunted but im not sure if its easier because he will be a LOT more aggresive as well
i remember playing this fight quite a bit but on revengeance but cant even remember very hard and hard, so whenever you go again id say try hard again and maybe for the second phase dont taunt him (he will be a lot less aggressive this way)
gl :p
Taunt when he ends his ape rush, dodge his attack when he closes the gap, do a heavy attack, dodge and repeat. If you see him starting his charge when he is close, just dodge backwards so you have time to evade the attack.
Just practice and once you get a hang of how it works it's quite easy and you go from this:

*Was gonna say something like "Do that on PC and I'll have hope.", saw that you had pretty much every MGR achievement (including THAT achievement) and noticed the name of your second video and immediately burst out laughing*. Seriously though, those videos were amazing. Like that first one, DESPITE IT BEING ON A CONSOLE (which I still have a very firm belief, even though it sounds very, very stupid, that the bosses are slightly easier to beat on console but nobody realises it because noone uploads PC videos or plays the PC version anymore) was incredible. Like how you managed to DODGE all of his attacks and I RE~ALLY learnt something at 2:19 that although it might be dangerous to pull off, could still help me win the fight. Not to mention the video alone was so brutal that when you finally reached 0.1% or whatever, it actually felt like it was you fighting him and not Sam. THEN that second video not only gave me HOPE in beating Senator Nanomachines-Son, but it also gave me a really good idea of how to fight him AND you beat them ONE, SECOND faster then this person on YouTube called Miduki Ashino who's been my idol for the past I-dunno-how-long-now for basically made vids of themselves S-ranking the f*** out of anything that moves on Metal Gear Rising. My only objection though is at 1:04 (in your second vid) when you do a charged attack at Armstrong and STUN, HIM. Now correct me if I'm wrong because I've tried multiple times on Revengeance with that exact attack after damaging him and everything and still nothing, but it seems, at least to me, that you can't stun him on PC (if he works for you and everyone else and it's just Armstrong hating me and not working for my game alone, at this rate, I WOULD believe that.) So how would I go from there?
Both of the videos were on PC, I use a controller for this genre of games. My xbox hasn't been plugged in for over a year.
It has been so long since I beat him but if I remember correctly you need 8 combo from the charge attacks to stun him. The safest way is the XXY->Y->Y (X light attack, Y charge). Spin attack has range and you can close in with the standard heavy attack that stuns him and leaves him open for the second charge.
For your current skill level I'd say it is safer to follow the dodge and punish tactic. Keep him taunted at all times for that sweet extra damage.
I was JUST watching your videos again and then I see that you replied. XD I'll try again tommorow. HOPEFULLY I'll get it or at the very least, come close. Thank you for the help BTW.
