VR MISSION 18 GOD I SUCK AT THIS GAME
Just... Mission 18. Those mastiffs. WHY AM I SO BAD AT THE REVENGEANCE?!?!? Just a little parry there, a little QTE there NOPE GORILLA ARMS TO THE FACE.

I'm going to go soak these bruised and bloodied hands in some ice water and cry into a beer at the knowledge that I'll be at the Mission 18 proving grounds again tomorrow, itching to die and die and die again.

(On another note, Mission 17 is just loads and loads of bad. Forcing you to use the worst-implemented mechanic in the game to defeat a gauntlet of enemies is just absolutely mind-boggling. There was no fun to be had in the completing of that mission, at all.)

The VR missions in this game are real chores. VR mission 18 took me 4 hours to get the gold. Sam's VR mission 4 took longer than that.
Ouch. I'm not looking forward to that. I'm happy to say though that I finally cleared Mission 18 a few hours ago, thanks to prodigious amounts of headbanging against a wall and ridiculous amounts of luck. Parrying the mastiffs has now become second nature to me... given a steady camera angle. The dogs are still a chore, though. That whippy chainsaw attack is all sorts of unpredictable, and getting them to reliably do a headlong charge is a pipe dream.

Which makes Mission 19 all the more aggravating, now that I'm working at it. It's just one hurdle after another with this game. Seriously, is there some secret formula to perfect parrying the hammer guys? Pray to the moon and wait for the planets to align, maybe? With the berserkers I've just resorted to parrying their first shot, then letting their second hit me in order to perfect parry their followup upswing. And I don't even want to know what's next after that second wave.

I think I just put distance between me and them and charge up a strike with Bloodlust and kept repeating until they were weak enough to Zandatsu.
...yeah, it took a Youtube video to realize that there was no PP-ing the armored soldiers but all you had to do was chip away at them. Duh me. (Though the berserkers you can PP into Zandatsu, if you string three PPs together or parry-->let them hit on follow-up-->PP third upswing like I did.)

Once I realized it was a simple matter of whittling their health away, I did what you did and just used charged Bloodlust attacks 'til they glowed blue all over. The four Fenrirs in the final section were a joke compared to that. Considering how they all ran away and faced me one dog per round the first two rounds, I half-expected to have to go through a WWE Royal Rumble of Gekkos, mastiffs, and those raptor-looking ones with the dwarf gekkos that you rip out.

HF Long Blade and Yellow Armor subsequently acquired, and now onto bigger and better things. Good riddance.
