Full screen locked at 30?
I have a 4k monitor so if I play in windowed mode at the max 1080p setting the window will only take up 1/4 of my screen @60fps. The image will not upscale to fit the whole screen. When I do full screen mode I get a 30fpslock and can't find anything in the files to unlock it. Is there anything I can do here?

You need to install a patch by simply moving it into the game folder and running the file. the link is here.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/forcefix/files/ForceFix_1.02..zip/download

It worked for me and I hope it works for you.

I tried putting that forcefix file inthe mgsr folder. I ran forcefix and selected 60 fps but now the game won't launch. Even after deleteing forcefix and verifying integrety of my game cache I still can't launch. Did I do something wrong there?

Probably. I merely placed the item in the game app folder, ran the software, and set it to my desired fps. (I use 50 and it works great for me) Try uninstalling the game from the steam library and redownloading it, then put force fix into there. If it doesn't work, I'm sorry I wasn't much help.

I figured out a much simpler solution though. I just set my windows resolution from 4k down to 1080p. Now game launches fine and when I play windowed mode it runs at 60fps and takes up my whole screen.

K. Glad you were able to fix it :)

I can't play the game without it.

well from what im hearing this version of the game is (sadly) ripped directly from the PS3 version which means that it wont exactly have fleshed out support for PC. the game might be doing 30fps becasue the game doesnt monitor refresh rates at all nor does it let you unlock FPS. i hate to say this but you might have to do one of two things 1. turnt he resolution down to 720p or 2. use a non-4K monitor. im only telling you what could be some possible fixes but i can garuntee that your 4K monitor might be the issue (which sucks)

Yeah the only way I could play in 60fps was in windowed mode (1080p max). What I did was set my windows resolution to 1080p so that the window now takes up the whole screen when it opens.

it kinda sucks. i really am a little jadded by the fact that game devlopers go the easy route and not make a proper pc port. im sure they do this to save money and maybe to get the game out faster but i would find a pc port to be a bit better. a good example of a game like this is serious sam 3. the development team worked to get a proper console port out ratehr than just plop the pc verison on console.

The ForceFix worked for me. It's just one .exe file. Doesn't matter where you save it. You just run it, then choose your fps (60hz/fps is default) then you run the game. Locked it at 60fps in full screen for me. It also has an option to restore settings when closing the program or keeping it that way all the time (which it says to do at your own risk). I just let it restore and re-run it each time.

File is here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/forcefix/files/ForceFix_1.02..zip/download

i used a better fix, no download needed:

Forcing refresh rate via DirectX registry entries:

Open the Registry Editor:
Vista and later: open the Start screen/Start menu, type regedit, press Enter.
Windows XP: press Win+R, type regedit, press Enter.
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DirectDraw
Create DWORD entry "ForceRefreshRate" and change its DECIMAL value to the refresh rate of your monitor.
64-bit users will need to do this at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\DirectDraw as well.

For the record, I'm running Windows 10 64-bit, and Antonio's fix worked for me. No download required. Thanks very much, running the game at a solid 60 fps now.
