help, the game won't launch
When I hit play on steam, a window opens that says it's preparing to launch the game but then nothing happens. Does anyone know how to fix this?

First, Check the Integrity of Files.

(Steam > Library > Metal Gear Rising > Right Click > Proprieties > Local Files > Check Integrity of Files)

Second, make sure that you didn't install the game in an external memory source, like a different hard disk or even just out of the C:/ directory.

Third, check the connection or try to close Steam completely and open it again.

Fourth, reinstall DirectX or update it.

I actually ended up resolving it. Turns out I was missing a dll file. Thanks for your help though.

Wait wait!
How did you fix it? Maybe I can help others if they have the same problem, comrade.

I'm having (I think) the same problem. I tried adding the D3DX9_43.dll file to SysWOW64, but I get an error when I run the Program File from Windows and the Steam App does the same thing that was described earlier.

Just follow the steps in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5fxzdD3tZA
and install the x64 bit version in system32 and the x32 bit version in SysWOW64. That's what worked for me. Apologies for the late response, I hope you were able to resolve your issue.

The dll error seems to have gone away but a new one (0xc000007b) has taken it's place. I'm very new to Windows, and I forgot to reply because I haven't used my PC in a while, but thank you so far.

I am also experiencing this issue. Please let me know if there are any breakthroughs on this, none of the solutions have worked so far

For me, the issue was having a controller plugged in when launching the game from big picture mode. See if plugging out the controller during the launch and plugging it back in when the game starts helps

The fix is usually very simple, if you go to the game directory (by right clicking the game -> local files -> browser) and then launching from the game's executable directly, you should be able to see a detailed error message

In my case the error was Xinput1_3.dll Not Found which means I needed to install/update [https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35] microsoft directx, This usually solves the issue.

I did actually play the game on my old pc but now i cant launch it on my new one and only on my old pc so does that mean i have to delete every file of the game on my old pc? (Its uninstalled on my old pc)
